Today we’d like to introduce you to Anthony Fort.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Anthony. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started acting in 2008 where I attended KD Acting Conservatory. I studied acting 101 and voice over. Once I got accustomed to different study techniques, I decided to audition for plays. I got my experience through small stage plays and video skits until I built a resume. I got an agent and started studying with R.E.A.C.T ACTORS STUDIO with Michele Condrey where I honed my skills. I got my first acting gig in a short film and the rest was history. Since then, I’ve starred in a national commercial, my first feature film (Jerico), and a guest star on a hit tv show (Queen of the South).
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Well, the road has been tough but not as tough as it could be. It’s tough because I’m a postal worker full time so it’s hard to balance the two. But it’s not so tough because I’m a postal worker at the same time. I think if I didnt have my fulltime job, I would probably be further along in my acting career but at the same time who knows, I probably would be struggling with the letdowns that come with the business.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I mostly like the more serious roles. I can do comedy but I like dealing with real-life situations and issues. But surprisingly, I’m most proud of my role in the movie Jerico, which is more of a dramedy. I got a chance to show all forms of emotion in the film. When I’m in a scene, you’re going to know I’m there. I think my presence sets me apart from other actors.
What were you like growing up?
I was an introvert growing up. I stayed to myself and I loved basketball. I always found different ways to express myself without being a loud attention grabber. I was also a movie buff. I loved movies and I always imagined me being the character in some of my favorite movies.
