Today we’d like to introduce you to Anthony Garrison.
Hi Anthony, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
My story began in the small town of Berwick, Louisiana; where I was raised by a single parent. Curiosity led me to wander away from home for college into Ada, Oklahoma where I obtained a Bachelor’s degree and more importantly met my wife/business partner, Brittany. After graduating in 2011 I was still unsure of exactly what to do for a living. After two years of doing odd jobs, I decided that getting a math teacher certification became a gateway to stability. The birth of our first daughter sparked our quest to move to Dallas (a large city with lots of options) in 2012. DFW also has great proximity to both sides of our families, yet large enough for endless opportunities.
After about 4 years of teaching, I began to revisit my next moves yet again. I read several books and heard countless seminars, but the most influential book of the summer was the infamous “Rich Dad, Poor Dad”. Although I had a great passion for pouring into the youth, my primary mission quickly changed to doing everything I could to buy my time back. By now we had our second daughter and my wife and I were both working as teachers. Throughout that entire upcoming school year, I could not get the negative concept of “the rat race” out of my head. It felt as if it was an insult to my character to be conscious of the monotony, nonetheless continued the cycle that led down a path I was not interested in.
Contrary to those feelings, I was in full stride in the classroom as academic accolades for student growth measurement were being shattered. Unlike most entrepreneurs that leave one industry to follow their dreams, I love what I do. I felt as if my life purpose and passions were being fulfilled, but the trajectory we were on would not provide the financial structure to support the life I desired. I guess the real beginning of who I am today started with a family vacation to Rome. It was an extremely humbling experience that again gave me a new perspective on life. The new approach now was to help others via providing services in a market that we enjoyed studying. Fresh off of the vacation to Italy we added our 3rd daughter to the family and launched our first business venture, Travel with B3. It wasn’t until 2019 that we launched 3G Invest LLC, an umbrella entity to Travel with B3 and 3G Leads our marketing agency. Although I have been an educator for 8 years, I believe my ability to remain a student of life is what got me to where I am today. Equipped with curiosity, resilience, and gratitude; I wake up to become the best educator, student, husband, father, entrepreneur, and leader that I can be.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Smooth is the last word I would use to describe this journey. There were several challenges throughout the process, starting in the beginning. Who knew finding an actual industry to infiltrate that fit would take so long. Looking back on it, the process gave us tools and skills that are now used to provide service to our partners. Once we finally landed in the marketing industry it was time to choose a niche, which took 3G down more roads of trial and error. That same trial and error led to joint business ventures and experiences that are leveraged DAILY in 3G Invest’s operations today. Challenges are inevitable.
I try to treat every solution to a problem a stepping stone to the next level. I’m a strong believer that everything happens for a reason. From my perspective, challenges are the Big Guys’ ways to check back in and see how bad we really want it. So, when challenges arise, I embrace them! Almost in a weird way after cursing or literally laughing out loud. A wise man once said if you don’t have struggles in your business 9/10 your business is struggling.
