Today we’d like to introduce you to Anthony Parrotta.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Anthony. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I moved to Austin, TX to play music after graduating from Stephen F. Austin and was soon introduced to the coffee world working at a local neighborhood bakery as a barista. A few years later, I found myself working at a family-owned and operated coffee roaster and wholesaler where I learned the ins and outs of the industry, eventually becoming a roaster and fell in love with it immediately. Being a Fort Worth native, my wife and I decided to move back home to start a roaster of our own. With the help of friends and family, we were able to get the business up and running by March of 2018.
Has it been a smooth road?
One of the biggest obstacles we faced was finding our roaster. We use the Sivetz fluid-bed coffee roaster which is a process invented by Michael Sivetz in the early 1970s. He hand-built these machines until around 2006 so they are incredibly difficult to find. While on a family vacation in San Diego we found one on craigslist listed in Bakersfield, CA after a year-long search. We immediately canceled our flight home, rented a truck and on our last day, drove up to Bakersfield to pick it up and make the long trip back to Texas. Luckily, for us, it worked! Our 15KG Sivetz roaster was built in 1991 and has plenty of life left. It looks kind of like something engineered by NASA.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Enduro Coffee Roasters – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
Here at Enduro Coffee we source nothing but the finest Arabica coffee beans and air-roast them to perfection. Once we receive a new coffee, we meticulously test roast until we find the optimal temperature for that specific coffee. Each origin of coffee has its own flavor profile and will roast a little differently depending on the density and moisture content. We like to find the sweet spot for these coffees and highlight those flavor profiles. Enduro Coffee specializes in wholesale services for any business large or small. Our clients are cafes, restaurants, business break rooms, churches and a local fire station. We provide any of the extras like cups, sugar, creamer, stirs, brewers and water filtration to anyone in need and we will service the equipment as well. Everything is roasted to order and delivered within two days. Individual orders can be placed online at our retail shop or you can sign up for our coffee club. Our quality and service set us aside from any of the big box guys and we are price competitive. We want everyone to enjoy specialty coffee. Each year, Enduro Coffee donates to a different local charity to help improve the community and its quality of life.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love the history and culture that our city embodies. You can see it everywhere you go. Fort Worth has done an excellent job preserving our historic roots from where the west begins to the art deco style and architecture that boomed in the 1930s. The city is also rich in music and art which are two things I love most. There’s not much I don’t like about Fort Worth. We have enormous pride and I respect that about our community.
