Today we’d like to introduce you to Anthony Whitehead.
Anthony, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I got started after a trip to Jamaica. I started buying fruits and blending them. Later, I started bringing samples to some of my co-workers and clients. When I first started, I was getting reviews back by co-workers and friends. Almost everyone enjoyed the juice. Once people started to enjoy the drinks, I started to bring more juice samples to work. One of my good friends, Rupali Deshmukh enjoyed my juice and ask to place an order for my, now signature juice, Fresh Pineapple Juice. That was my very first order and still possess that $20. I have gotten to where I am now because of persistence and perseverance.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been a smooth road for the first three months. I staying up late blending fruit for customers for five days a week. I know that I have a full-time job that requires me being at work early mornings from 5 am to 1 pm. I would get off from work and drive to North Dallas to pick up juice and material for The Juice Box stand. Pack everything into my truck and drive an hour to Oak Cliff or Desoto. Unpack everything, set up The Juice Box stand, sale juice for six hours, break down the juice stand and load everything back up. Drive an hour back home that is if I didn’t have any delivers on my way home. Unload my truck once I made it home and get prepared to do it all over again for the next day.
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I am the owner/creator of The Juice.Box. We make fresh fruit juices. Our juices are designed to feed and hydrate the body live food. We have a Berry Mix, Signature Pineapple, Tropical, Strawberry Pineapple, and Yummy Green Mix. We specialize in detoxes and cleanses. We are known for having the BEST pineapple juice in Texas.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I am most proud of being able to start a successful business from the ground up and have it thrive in the black community.
