Today we’d like to introduce you to Arian Helm.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
After being at my university for two years and not accomplishing much academically, I began to do some soul searching as to what I really wanted to do post-grad. At that time, I was on my third major and felt extremely lost. I remember talking to my professor who asked me what made me genuinely happy. I couldn’t give her one solid answer at the time. I took an intro class to my now major, Mass Communication, that required us to create a blog. I grew to love expressing my thoughts online, but what I enjoyed most was reading my blogs aloud. I then came across the idea of having my own talk show. I’ve always enjoyed a good conversation growing up. I was known for being very talkative among my family and teachers. I did a lot of research on how to produce and construct my talk show, which lead to what you all see today.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
There have definitely been some bumps on the road to creating The Arian Helm Show. When I came up with the idea of having my own talk show, I knew absolutely nothing about production, interviewing, speaking on camera and researching for journalism. The class that I mentioned earlier actually taught me all of these things after I came up with the idea. I struggled with patience and procrastination the most throughout my first season. I didn’t realize how much time and effort I was committing too. I appreciate the struggles that I have encountered, they have taught me about myself and are preparing me for my future.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Arian Helm Show story. Tell us more about it.
The Arian Helm Show is an infotainment talk show with five segments. My segments include Chatty Time, Interviews, Know Yo Rights, Signed to Bring Real Music Back Records and Not Rich but Wealthy. The purpose of my show is to not only entertain, but inform my peers on topics that are relevant but not discussed every day. Each episode I discuss entertainment and political news, the importance of knowing your American laws and rights, habits to generate generational wealth, and I interview students at my university who are creatives and business owners. For the first season, I did everything myself. From filming, editing, writing the show, promoting, research and logos, I was a one-woman show. Not only was this exhausting but extremely overwhelming. However, nothing compares to the positive feedback and reviews I have gotten of the show.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I don’t believe that anything I have accomplished so far is luck, it is all God. My faith has grown so much from the beginning of my show to the end. Before every episode, I pray and ask God to use me. Anything good or bad regarding my show, I look at as a blessing or lesson.
