Meet Artesia Mccoy of The Hair Loss Pharmacy in North Dallas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Artesia Mccoy.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Artesia. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started my professional hair career at 19 in Monticello, Arkansas and earned my license in 2016. I floated around a few shops and then decided to settle in my own suite. I’ve always geared towards hair loss clients and studied preventative measures and applied them as treatment measures but I couldn’t tell you why I was so passionate about that particular sector. Then the unexpected happened—my hair FELL OUT and I became my own client. I went to the dermatologist first—the same advice I give my clients and was diagnosed with a cradle cap for adults, alopecia, and hair loss due to stress. I was given a prescription to reverse what had been lost and told if it didn’t grow back in two weeks, it would never. Two weeks, four weeks, and two months pass and nothing happened! I proceeded to start the treatment I used for my clients and made myself a glueless unit.

Fast forward… MY HAIR IS GROWING BACK! This made me really understand my purpose and further ignited my passion and why for what I do. Last year, I got the urge to start a new chapter and made a move to Dallas. When I first moved here, I had a full-time job and was doing hair and making wigs on the side to build my clientele. My clientele grew quickly, and I was able to leave my job and focus solely on my business. After witnessing the progress of my clients and my own personal hair journey, it has never been more apparent what I’m here to do and I’ve been so excited and grateful to bring that to Dallas.

Has it been a smooth road?
The biggest obstacle I’ve faced is starting over from scratch. When I relocated, I had absolutely no clientele just a skill set and passion for hair solutions. I had to figure out how to market myself here and get my name out there. I did all this while juggling a full-time job. As my clientele started to grow and wig orders increased, the new challenge became in balancing my full-time job. So I stepped out on faith and decided to leave that job.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
I specialize in hair solutions for women who struggle with fine and thinning hair, or hair that has been chemically or mechanically damaged. I’m a certified in non-surgical hair replacement and a Master Wig Artist. I design a hair care prescription for every client to reach their healthy hair goals. I do this through hair replacement methods like my unique natural linked row extensions and ready-to-wear and custom-made units that require no adhesive in styling and protect natural hair. I’m all about healthy hair and I work with all my clients on their journey to get there.

My proudest moment thus far has been rebuilding in Dallas. Through rebuilding my business and clientele here, I gained more clarity on what it is I’m passionate about and where my skills are best utilized. That lead to me rebranding my entire business to be the Hair Loss Pharmacist. I realized that there are so many women that struggle with hair loss and they have no idea where to start. Those are the women I love working with so rebranding myself and my business to focus mainly on that has been extremely successful and rewarding.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Dallas is thriving and rapidly expanding so I definitely feel like it’s great for any business, especially in my field. The way that my business has prospered in a relatively short amount of time is a testament to that. To anybody that’s just starting out, this is the place to be- there’s plenty of clientele, opportunists, and support for everybody to be great and prosper.
