Meet Dr. S. Alexis Gordon, M.D., F.A.C.S. of Renew MD Facial Aesthetics

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. S. Alexis Gordon, M.D., F.A.C.S.

Hi Dr. S. Alexis, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
S. Alexis Gordon, M.D., F.A.C.S., is a board-certified physician and retired surgeon and also a member of the Fellowship of the American College of Surgeons. She received her MD from The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston and completed her residency in Urologic Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center. Dr. Gordon has received prestigious awards such as the “Patient’s Choice” and “Compassionate Doctor” based on patient satisfaction, as well as “Top 1% America’s Most Recognized Physician” for several years. She lives in Southlake with her husband and is the proud mom of a college girl, a teenage son, and dogs.

After more than 18 successful years in practice as a Urologic Surgeon, Dr. Alexis Gordon was ready for a new adventure. With her long-standing passion for dermatologic conditions and aesthetics, she worked toward her goal of opening a medical center focused on helping patients look and feel renewed. She trained with renowned cosmetic surgery doctors while researching the latest technologies and brought all of this to life when the doors of Renew MD Facial Aesthetics opened in 2018. Renew MD has recently won several local awards, including Best Med Spa, the Best place for Botox/fillers, and Readers’ Choice awards for Southlake Society Magazine (a local publication).

At Renew MD Facial Aesthetics, we feel strongly about delivering the highest quality of care and achieving superior patient satisfaction. Every patient consults with Dr. Gordon or her highly trained certified Nurse Practitioner to develop personalized short- and long-term goals. All treatments are overseen and delegated by Dr. Gordon and performed by her and her highly qualified staff. Our main goal is that every single visit is professional, patient-focused, and results-driven.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Discomfort is a natural part of growth. The most challenging part of starting and running a medical practice or any small business is finding the right people to join you on the journey. I have been blessed to have several people who believe in our mission to help people feel more confident and to grow Renew to reach people of all ages and demographics. As a close-knit team there are always going to be differences in personalities. The goal is to have open communication, and everyone’s input is welcome.

I have surrounded myself with people who have strengths where I have my weaknesses. We do not learn how to manage or start a business in Medical School or Residency, so I have had to learn a lot of new things along the way.

In the end, it’s all about the patient. As long as we keep that at the forefront, the rest falls into place.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Renew MD Facial Aesthetics?
We do a variety of facial aesthetics.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out.
Listen to other peoples’ successes and failures. Join a Facebook group or business support group where you can be honest and open with your questions without judgment. Read as many leadership and management books as you can. Not even an MBA can prepare you for this incredible journey.
