Meet Ashley Hellinghausen of Humble Bee Products in North of Mckinney

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Hellinghausen.

Ashley, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started working at a Bee Farm because I was so passionate about saving the bees, I was determined to learn, and what better way to learn than to be paid to learn? I extracted my very first harvest of honey and was stoked. It was more than I could ever need for myself. I’ve always made elderberry syrup for my family, and friends why not make more? Well, more turned into more than I could imagine and word got out and I ended up being your local elderberry producer.

Has it been a smooth road?
It has been pretty smooth for the most part, overwhelming at times, but I would like to say that’s a good problem to have.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
I remember going to my first market, luscome farms, and my friend asking, “What if you end up on the shelves?!” I remember saying, “That’s not my end goal. My goal is to bring health to the table and spread awareness”. I would say that is what I as a business owner like to stand for. I am most proud of the awareness that I have brought for the bees and how important they are for us. I think what sets me apart from others is how passionate I am about all the aspects on the table, the farmers, the bees, the health, trying to be as full circle as I can possibly be. I specialize in bees and elderberry syrup, but I am an open book and there’s no plan for me to stop there.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Anna Texas has treated me very well as far as business goes. If it weren’t for my neighbors, who knows where I would be. I think Anna has a lot of people who are willing to support their neighbors, anyone who starts a business here we always try and keep them running. I don’t think there’s much I would improve here, we still have the small-town feel, but it is growing quickly.
