Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley “Lola” Ramos.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Ashley. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’m a small-town girl with big-city dreams!!!! I moved to DFW five years ago from my small town, Childress Tx, to pursue my “city” goal. At first, I was a little terrified to jump right into my career, being so young it’s kind of freaky. Forward four years later and I couldn’t be happier to finally be in the beauty industry. I feel like I had a lot of trial and error to do before I gave 100% to something. My heart has always been with hair, so after figuring my life out, I took a leap and flew with it! I love this industry and all it has to offer. I’m so excited to make people happy and feel beautiful for the rest of my days!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Definitely not. I feel like I can speak for a lot of people on this, but anxiety can get the best of me sometimes. There’s a lot of self-doubt and discouragement that comes along with being a hairstylist. I will say I’m a pretty positive person though, so keeping that in mind I can usually push myself through any situation thrown at me! It’s pretty cool actually.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Avante Salon and Day Spa story. Tell us more about the business.
Avante is a blessing to me! We have an associate program that’s sort of like a learning experience to help you have all the confidence when going onto the floor right out of school. As of now, I’m finishing up my program and should be all on my own, give or take, in about a month or two. I’m known for basically being the “hippy” of our salon, and for going by my dog’s name! LOL! At Avante, it’s kind of a trend to not have the same name as anyone else in the salon. Being Ashley Nicole, it’s kind of hard-working around nobody having that name… so I had to change my name, My dog is my world, so I decided to go by her name Lola. 🙂
I absolutely love how Avante is so friendly and family-oriented. These are my girls, and everyone is everyone’s girl, to be honest. We do things as a team whether it is in or outside of the salon and its awesome cause that’s the closet thing I have to family here in DFW.
I specialize in vivid colors and cutting! I feel like my life is so bright, I love adding that extra hint of brightness to everyone’s hair and life that I touch ~ it’s another way to express myself. Cutting is just so fun to me and I found myself to be confident in cutting for the start, also, you never know who’s life you can change with just a simple haircut!!!
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Absolutely! There’s SO MUCH opportunity here in this industry. Luck can be a tricky word for me. I don’t have the best luck going into Cassino’s And I probably won’t ever win the lottery, but I can say I am definitely lucky that I am living the life that I am and to be able to pursue what I love~ blessed if you must. Sometimes it can feel like I am in a dream! Life is so good.
