Meet Ashley Marsh of Ashley Marsh Photography in Pilot Point

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Marsh.

Ashley, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
The idea of starting a photography business first came to me in 2011 during our family session. I loved the feeling that the person behind the camera was taking time away from her family to help my family create memories. The next two years I went through plenty of notebook spirals, you tube videos, and articles teaching myself about photography. Seriously, I did enough work to basically have a degree lol. In 2013 I started my business part-time while working full time at a bank. In 2015 I became a full-time photographer, and it was the best thing I could have done!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Absolutely not! There were nights I cried because my images weren’t good enough (to me), or it seemed like I would never be able to make this a full-time gig. Also the pressure of having the newest gear, or finding your own style can weigh heavy on amateurs as well.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Ashley Marsh Photography – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I like to call myself “DFW’s Almost Everything” photographer! I will shoot ALMOST everything lol. I do however tend to book more high-school seniors, and that is what I’m known for in my area. The thing I am most proud of is the impact I’ve made on my high-school seniors during their senior portrait experience. I’m not one to conform to what the world thinks I should be, and that spills over into my business. I want my high-school seniors to feel comfortable in their own skin, let loose, and have fun. I do very little posing, and focus on capturing raw and authentic moments. I believe that is what sets me apart from others.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Omg! My plans for the future are so over the top lol if you ask my husband he’d say, “What isn’t in her future?” I’m definitely stepping out of the box, and focusing on breaking photography rules in 2018. Aside from that I have something HUGE in store, but still working out details. My clients will know by the end of 2018!
