Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley and William Pritchett.
Ashley and William, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My husband and I are both military veteran’s that have always had a passion for cooking and baking. Like many things that brought us together, baking and making people happy stood out most for us. My husband got out of the Army and we moved to Texas. Our passion led us to starting our business. From the start, the amazing feeling we got when we saw the excitement on customers faces let us know we are doing what we are meant to do. Every aspect of our cupcakes and cakes are from scratch. They truly are a labor of love, but we wouldn’t have it any other way.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
From having a baby, work, culinary school and our bakery our lives have been busy to say the least. It’s all about time management and having fun along the way. Every business has its ups and downs but it’s how you respond to each situation that makes you or breaks you. We have been lucky enough to have a strong bond as husband and wife. We feed off each other’s strengths and encourage each other. As we love to say, “I’ve got your six.” It is what separates us from others in our industry.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
We specialize in cupcakes and cakes from scratch. Every element comes from fresh ingredients and customized for each customer. We are known for our mocha cupcake. Everyone tells us how much they love it and it’s the pick me up they needed. No matter what a customer brings us, from layered cakes to crazy carved cakes or unique flavor combinations we always make sure to give them beyond what they expected. We are most proud of surpassing the expectations our customers have. We love being able to be a part of their special day and/or occasions. From our military pasts we both have the drive and dedication to each and every order. It’s what we love!
What were you like growing up?
Ashley: Growing up, I was definitely the stubborn yet goofy child. I was the youngest of four. My sisters were more of the girly types where as I was more of a tomboy. I loved to cook from an early age. I loved watching chefs like Emeril Lagasse and would even be caught saying, “BAM!” as I cooked up my newest creation. I loved making roses and creatures out of modeling clay and now I get to do it with modeling chocolate.
William: Growing up in Georgia, southern cooking was my thing, from grits and eggs for breakfast, to grilled burgers and steaks for dinner. I learned how to cook from my parents and grandmother. In high school, I loved acting and was really good at it as a comedian, but cooking was my passion. For 4 years in a row, I did an omelet cooking contest where I got 10th place with my first omelette then after that I won 2nd place then 1st place and best in show on my last two competitions. My love for cooking grew stronger.
