Meet Ashton Theiss of The Ashton Agency in Fort Worth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashton Theiss.

Ashton, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Immediately upon graduating from TCU, I dove headfirst into a full-time career in real estate. As an independent agent, I learned the industry from the ground up and had years of ups and downs in my career that taught me so much about not only real estate, but myself as well.

Most entrepreneurs say that starting their business is not just something they wanted to do, but that it was something they felt they had to do. That is without a doubt the truth when it came to deciding to start my own brokerage. Coming from a family of entrepreneurial business owners, I knew that I would never be satisfied until I fully built something from the ground up. Cue the creation of The Ashton Agency. Whenever I shared my plans of starting my company with my close friends and family the response was consistent across the board: “We knew it was a matter of when not if.”

The Ashton Agency was launched in January of 2020 with the mission of offering a fresh, authentic approach to reach estate brokerage. As a company, we focus on residential and land/ranch transactions. The past six months have been a whirlwind to say the least, but a whirlwind in the best way. We have grown to a team of 6 licensed agents without any recruiting. Our company is comprised of ambitious, hard-working agents that bring personality, integrity and authenticity to the table.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
In the words of FDR, “A smooth sea never made a skilled sailor.” My career has been anything but smooth and consistent. I have said many a time that I have gotten an expensive education in learning things the hard way. But the hurdles, challenges and mistakes that I have faced have made me that much stronger, more resilient, wiser and experienced across the board. These difficulties have helped me refine my art of the trade and have made me an even better leader to guide and teach my agents what not to do and how to overcome whatever challenges come their way.

Please tell us about The Ashton Agency.
My company, The Ashton Agency, is comprised of trusted real estate advisors that are results-driven and forward-thinking, harnessing exceptional marketing skills, vast knowledge and an extensive network to provide unrivaled representation and expertise. We know every real estate transaction is unique and deserving of a fully custom, personalized experience. We pride ourselves on being a breath of fresh air in a sales driven industry. While we take our jobs extremely serious and ensure that we are offering the highest level of expertise and knowledge to our clients, we are dedicated to being real and authentic. We are not salespeople. We are advisors.

I started my personal career with a focus on residential sales. Within my first few years, I was drawn towards other facets that have become my specialties. As bizarrely different as they are, my specialties are in land and ranch sales and renovation/construction/design.

If you understand my upbringing and background, these don’t sound as random as they are. Growing up, my family lived in the country. Weekends spent hunting and fishing at the ranch or slinging mud on an ATV were the norm. When ranch real estate opportunities presented themselves to me, it was a natural fit. A normal week for me includes at least one full day showing ranch property. My family has been in the construction industry my entire life. There was something about seeing a diamond in the rough and polishing it into something beautiful that just clicked with me early on. After buying and renovating my first home at 22 years old, I have gone on to renovate and flip many properties over the years. I am to the point now that I am hired as a design and construction for clients.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Nothing.
