Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashton Tucker and Kiana Pierce.
Ashton and Kiana, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
We’re known as creatives within our community. We have always had a space to express ourselves with different forms the arts including music, dance and graphic design. We picked up photography as another means of expressing the creativity that naturally oozed from us. ColourLab214 started five years ago when we realized that we could share our love for creative imagery with those around us in the DFW area.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
There are so many talented photographers in Dallas and as a business we had to differentiate ourselves. Our story alone does that. Two Oakcliff natives who really go hard for the community donating our services to local businesses and entrepreneurs within our community. It’s our community that got us to where we are now and helping support the backbone of that growth has been exciting.
Please tell us more about your work. What do you do? What do you specialize in? What sets you apart from competition?
ColourLab214 is a photography studio located in the Cedars near Downtown Dallas. We specialize in conceptual and editorial shoots that capture both the heart and mind.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success to us is when you see the look on the clients face when you give them a sneak peek of the photos. Their faces light up! We always hear things like “Wow! Is that me?” or depending on the type of shoot some become emotional. It’s so gratifying to see happy clients post their photos on social media, whether it be a headshot or family portrait, we get to be apart of that growth and those memories.
