Ashton, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
People ask me all the time why I became a hairstylist. My answer… God knew what I needed before I did.
I did not grow up playing with my friend’s hair or experimenting with the newest trends. I DID grow up with a nurturing heart for people. I believe that God gifted me with the ability to care for others’ well being while creating beautiful hair in the process. And now here I am living my dream. And that high I get when my client walks out a little taller and with a big smile on her face doesn’t hurt!
Has it been a smooth road?
I don’t think life is a smooth road. I started my career before I met my husband who is in the Army at the time. So I guess you can say he whisked me away to living the Army life which became my focus. We lived in Fort Hood where I became the units FRG Leader (family readiness group) and caring for our group during deployments was my priority. When my Husband decided to change career paths in 2015, we moved home and I started what is now Becks Beauty Company in the back of a small-town barbershop!
My dad suggested it and I thought he was crazy. I just moved home with no clientele and he thought it was a good idea! (It was the BEST idea. Don’t tell him that though) It was scary starting over at 30 and building a business from the ground up but with consistency and a lot of hustle, we are now a three chair salon with determination and a whole lot of plants! But I would not have known my potential, ten years after getting my license, if my husband didn’t make the first move and let me shine. I will always be grateful.

Here at Becks Beauty Company, we are always evolving. Learning new Techniques and new services. I personally specialize in dimensional blondes and lash extensions. I love using Teasylights and babylights to create a perfectly blended color. In this salon, we have created an environment that is relaxing and energizing. I’m also a plant enthusiast which elevates any space! I’m so proud to build a salon full of positivity and caring for people.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Being on the outskirts of two big cities is perfect for a salon! I not only chose Justin to build my business because it’s my hometown but because there is so much growth in the area. Texas is just blowing up with opportunity!
