Today we’d like to introduce you to Austin Davis.
Originally from the Saginaw, Eagle Mountain area, Austin earned a Bachelor of Science in Pastoral Ministry from Lee University in Cleveland, TN and a Master of Arts in Counseling from The Church of God Theological Seminary then went on to become a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor in the State of Texas.
His professional history includes both local church ministry and clinical counseling. At a young age He began serving youth at the local church in various capacities which led to clinical training and education. Austin gained a vast knowledge of mental health disorders while working in state and public mental health hospitals. This is where he was exposed to almost every type of diagnosis and carries this experience into the daily treatment.
After about ten years in the industry his longtime passion, Clearfork Academy came to life. Clearfork Academy is a Christ-Centered 24-bed residential, dual diagnosis, adolescent facility nestled by Fort Worth’s Eagle Mountain Lake. He finds joy and fulfillment working with “difficult” clients that challenge his heart and clinical skill set. It is his hope and desire that each resident that passes through Clearfork Academy will be one step closer to their created design. Their motto at Clearfork Academy is “leading adolescents to a new legacy.”
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Adolescent treatment, in general, is not an easy path! When I told people, I wanted to start Clearfork Academy they laughed. Every day is a challenge. The shortlist includes getting and maintaining state and national licensure/certifications, dealing with the massive amounts of issues that teens bring into treatment (bio, psychological, sociological, spiritual, etc), 20+ staff, parents, maintaining 40 acres, 5 buildings… etc, billing insurance, helping families cope with financial and emotional stress of addiction.
I could write for days about the daily challenges of treating teens with substance abuse.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
We specialize in treating teen boys 13-17 years old that suffer from substance abuse disorder. We are ‘dual diagnosis’ capable. We have a very individualized level of care, we have at least 1 staff per 4 residents and this does not include professional or therapeutic staff. One thing that makes us most unique is having a Christ-centered approach to recovery. We are not evangelical with the content or approach but offer God and Christ as a solution to the recovery process. This approach is what bring us residents from all over the country.
Our facilities are 2nd to none. We have a beautiful hill country style setting overlooking Eagle Mountain Lake in FTW. That being said, we are only 45 mins from DFW airport so it making travel super convenient for families.
Overall, our residents and their families are treated as prized possessions and will never be treated with disrespect or treated like a number.
What were you like growing up?
I was an all-American kid. I played all sports. Participated in school social services. Attended church regularly. I was the friend that everyone went to for advice and could count on. Only makes sense that I would choose a path of counseling as a profession. I like to think that I pushed everything to the limit (in a good way). If life set the bar at 8 I was going to try and get a 9 or 10. I have always had an entrepreneurial spirit. I think this is what continues to drive me today to find success for myself, my family, and my clients.
