Meet Austin Wafer

Today we’d like to introduce you to Austin Wafer.

Austin, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
When I was very young, I stumbled on a movie called ‘Kill Bill’. I was definitely too young to be watching a crazy movie like that, but it the end, I found it necessary. I started to make comic books because of it, and that quickly transitioned into me just wanting to read comic books. My older brother also showed me a wide range of music growing up. This also played a huge part in expanding my creativity and a set urged to learn all different types of mediums of art. I then began to write stories, paint, learn photography and dabble into graphic designs as a result. As of today, I have an arsenal of skills under my belt, all to help achieve one goal I’ve had since I was a child… to help and inspire others around the world.

Has it been a smooth road?
The pathway for an artist is never easy, and nor should it be. I’ve had doubters, and envious people lock onto me, but I realized this is all a part of the game. Family and friends can also show little to no support for your work, but I never let that get to me. I’ve had days of self-doubt, but I remember how far I’ve come with my skills and make myself push forward through and obstacle.

Please tell us more about your artwork, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I specialize in many variants of art mediums, such as writing, illustrating, painting, and designing. I’m known for a series I make called “Uncertain Clarity.” These series test my creativity by limiting the overall amount of work I could put in it. With this, I lean on topics that I would keep extremely vague so anyone could have different interpretations of what the message means. Aside from that, I’m also writing a novel that I release online chapter by chapter, as well as an action/adventure comic book.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Yes, there is a growing art scene in Texas now. It would be a smart move to get ahead of the wave of creatives now and push the scene even further. For anyone to start their career, now would be a good time to start.
