Today we’d like to introduce you to B.Banks The Oracle.
B.Banks, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
March 2018, as a senior in college, I needed a big break. Earlier that year, I founded my first start-up company, Dallas.Live. Ultimately, it was a commercial marketing company that specialized in videography, social media marketing and management. That year, I decided to allow SxSW to be the foundation for my groundbreaking venture.
With $50 to my name, a full tank of gas, and refuge in Austin, I left my home in Dallas with the thoughts of having a breakthrough. (Thats exactly what happened.) The first day of the festival, I happened to meet Zaytoven, a Super Producer from California, but more reknown for his work in the Atlanta rap scene. I was asked to film the footage of his artist’s performances, and was then allowed on tour for the promotion of his then debut album titled “Trapholizay.” The experiences that I witnessed was what ultimately pushed me to invest in my first studio when I returned to Dallas. Having already dabbled in music, it pushed me to a level of aspiration that made me want to recreate what I previously left.
This is where I came into myself, as an artist, producer, and after due diligence a musical engineer. In the tedious works of perfecting my craft, I managed to drop four albums in 6 months. The first was “Trapped out my Mind” followed by “Life is Contrast”, then “The Oracle Vol. 1” and lastly, “Winter Time Papi 2.” Since the release of my albums, I have had over 19k streams independently, as well as acquired two artists under my label, West The Freak, an East TX Native and MBK Jayo from Dallas. Currently, I have been traveling, helping people create custom made albums in cities ranging from Atlanta, Las Vegas, Detroit, and California. Stay on the lookout for me to be one of the most influential artists and producers in 2020.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One of my biggest challenges was struggling financially due to the fact that I decided to not work for anyone while learning my craft. My purpose for this was, I needed to be able to devote all my energy and effort into learning, as you would at a 9-5, in order to achieve a level of mastery in a fairly short time.
Please tell us about your producing. What should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I am known for being the originator of the “Pop Trap” genre. A new style of production that infuses trap 808’s and drum patterns, with melodic instruments and sounds. I specialize in Audio Engineering, Mixing and Mastering, and Producing.
I’m mostly known for my music that is available on all platforms by searching: B.Banks
What sets me apart from other artists is the way in which I express my music. It’s invigorating and energetic, and the message is often delivered in a melodic flow, unorthodox to music today.
Easy listening. Commercial sound. Certified.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
The first Christmas I got a piano. There would be days where I would hit the keys just to make sounds. Over time I built an ear for music in reference to the procession of the beat.
