Today we’d like to introduce you to Baleigh Kehoe.
Baleigh, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’ve always been a creative person but as a child, I was always intrigued by cameras. I would take my grandmother’s disposable camera and take photos of anything and everything, as I grew older, so did my love of photography. When I was sixteen, I got my first DSLR camera and I absolutely fell in love. I started taking photos of my friends, senior pictures, portraits, and events. When I was about eighteen, I started getting compliments on my work and realized the impact my work had on others. I started doing portraits for agencies, local bands, and some local companies. As my photography grew, I grew as well, there is truly no better feeling than capturing the beauty of life. My job is to show others how beautiful they truly are, the way my clients face’s light up when they see their photos is why I do what I do.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
When following your passion, it is never as easy as you’d like it to be. I have had my fair share of rocky roads along the way but over time, you find a path that works for you. I have had many points in my life where I ask myself if it’s worth it to keep going or if I will ever be successful in what I love. I have figured out that success has many different definitions and to me, it is doing what I love. The biggest struggle for me is accepting that the path I have chosen isn’t easy it takes long nights editing, dedication, and persistence. Although being an artist is hard, the payoff is worthwhile and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Please tell us about Baleigh Kathryn Photography.
Photography is not just taking photos and throwing a filter on it, it’s learning how to work with your camera, lighting, editing software, angles, and much more. I am completely self-taught I have spent a little over six years learning and mastering my art. I learn more every day and I never stop bettering my work. I specialize in portrait photography and have had the opportunity to work with some amazing people. I want people to look at my art and feel the emotion I’m trying to portray. I don’t just take photos to take them every time I snap a picture I’m putting my heart into it, I’m trying to capture the emotion of the person. Anyone can take a photo but not everyone can truly capture one and I believe this is what sets me apart from others.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
This is tough because I have so many but honestly, any memory when my family was all together. I am a very family-oriented person and I’m happiest when surrounded by my loved ones. The feeling of being with the ones who you love unconditionally is the greatest feeling in the world.
