Today we’d like to introduce you to Barbie Armenta.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Barbie. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I spent close to thirty years of my life working in the beauty industry and loved everything about it! Three years ago I began a new journey as a Freedom Life coach and I feel as though I am living my purpose. It is now my passion to inspire other women to bravely live their most authentic and purposeful life. My husband Richard and I founded The Right Combination. Together and separately, we speak at churches and other organizations. We love to encourage others that it is never too late to have a full and abundant life. We also have a book that we have co-authored coming out in spring 2019. The book is our story or dating and blending families after divorce and how to do it Gods way.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
HaHa definitely not a smooth road. I have heard that becoming an entrepreneur is all about who you become in the process, and I believe that is true. Everything that we are shows up, the good and the bad. In the end, those of us that stick it out, discover it is so worth it. All of the hills, valleys, twist, and turns are all the things that make life exciting and make us all that God designed us to be.
I know for me, besides the little detail that I gave up the income and security of a “real job”, part of the struggle was getting myself out of the way. I had to overcome my own insecurities to be able to share my stories in writing and on video. What I have found is that our struggles, when shared, often bring freedom to others on similar journeys. It takes vulnerability, but it is so worth it!
We’d love to hear more about your business.
My company is The Right Combination. I am so proud of what it is becoming. It started 3 years ago with my coaching and it has grown into speaking, blogging, and writing our first book.
I coach women from all over the country one on one over the phone.
I do small group coaching quarterly with live Freedom workshops.
Biweekly host Brave Conversations with Barbie on YouTube and on my blog at Rightcombination.net
Annually host The Brave Gathering for women. Letting go of the past to embrace the future.
I feel like this is only the beginning!
What were you like growing up?
I am a native Texan. I grew up in Arlington, Texas. My dad was the chief of police in Pantego. He and my mom have been married for 53 years. I have one sister, Becky. I knew from a pretty young age that I wanted to be a hairstylist. I loved fashion and being creative. I spent twenty five plus years going from hairstylist, manager, educator, to doing marketing. I always loved encouraging stylist and salon owners in ways to grow their business, and now I get to help women grow in their lives through my coaching. I love how God works. I think sometimes we think that our purpose is something that we suddenly discover, when it is actually just becoming more of who He always made you to be.
