Today we’d like to introduce you to Baruch Belleli.
Baruch, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started my career been very young I arrived to the USA in 1973 and was employed in the retail business on 5th Av New York city Working as a sales clerk there I was trained and learned about the various merchandise we sold We catered mostly the tourist and visitors or business travelers who came to New York to shop on 5th Av.
We had to learn other languages in order to communicate with the foreign tourists we learned five languages just enough to get a conversation going as the years went by we were fluent in five languages.
In 1977 I moved to Pennsylvania there I opened my own shop and did business with the local trade. We were located on a very busy street called Market street and we were next door to reading terminal train stations that brought many tourists and out of town customers. In 1981 I decided to move south and relocate my business in a warmer climate such as Houston TX. There I owned two stores me and my business partner in the Galleria and the Sharps town mall. Later on, in 1982 we expanded to the Dallas TX location after been offered by Galleria a space in their new mall in north Texas. I was chosen to manage the Galleria Dallas location which I did for 22 years where I owned two stores. In 2004 I decided to retire and do the things which i loved to do most, those 11 hours a day mall hours were too much. I then took on a 9 to 5 position at the World trade center for the next 9.5 years where I met a lot of good friends which encouraged me to open again my retail operations. 2014 Sparkling Diamonds & Gems was born.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I had no struggles it was the usual everyday routine some days were better and some days not as good but we took them all and put them in a pot mixed them all up and got something good, which kept us always in the positive mode. In the past 46 years, I have been through the bad resections and good economies and we always managed to survive. We are still standing strong.

We specialize in Bridal and special occasion jewelry and carry a full line of thousands of jewelry items.
We sell all shapes and sizes up to 10ct of GIA certified diamonds which I import from other parts of the world.
