Meet Becca Graham of FIT4MOM Fort Worth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Becca Graham.

Becca, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
As a first time mom in 2011, I always had my eyes peeled for mom and kid friendly activities. FIT4MOM Bryan/College Station opened in the spring of 2012 and I won a 10 Class Pass at the Grand Opening event. Between the challenging workouts, singing ABC’s to the kids to keep them engaged in class, and making mom friends, I was hooked! Fast forward a year later and I became certified as a FIT4MOM instructor. Teaching FIT4MOM classes gave me an outlet for my love of fitness without having to choose between a job and being a stay at home mom; it’s the best of both worlds!

In the summer of 2013, my husband and our two kids moved to Fort Worth. I jumped into the existing FIT4MOM Fort Worth franchise as an instructor and felt grateful for an immediate village of moms in a new city. The owner at the time, Anna, was ready to pass the baton of ownership in 2015 and asked if I was up for the task. Thankful for the opportunity, I became owner of FIT4MOM Fort Worth in September of 2015. The past two years have been life-giving and I feel like it’s only the beginning!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Honestly, the most challenging part of this journey has been learning how to lead and grow a business while also being a present, mom of three young kids. The administrative part of my job is done at home. For better or worse, we have a room that’s a combined office and play room. So my day to day looks a lot like sitting with my two year old doing a puzzle while making a work phone call or helping my four year old with playdough shapes in between emails and class planning. I am grateful my team and clients are also moms and they have grace for me when my kids climb in my lap crying during video meetings or I need to suddenly get off the phone to change a blowout diaper.

As challenging as it is to run a business and raise my kiddos at home, I can’t imagine a better job for this season of life!

FIT4MOM Fort Worth – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Home office says it best:
“FIT4MOM is dedicated to the Strength in Motherhood. By providing class and support for moms in every stage of motherhood. Through Fit4Baby’s prenatal fitness classes, Stroller Strides, Body Back, and Our Village, women have the opportunity to have a workout and support that is flexible around motherhood.”

In Fort Worth specifically, we offer Fit4Baby, Stroller Strides, Stroller Barre, Body Back, and Run Club, giving moms classes for any stage of motherhood. Honestly though, the workouts are just the cherry on top to the community that is created through this business. We have weekly play dates and monthly Mom’s Night Outs that are open to anyone, whether they ever step foot in one of our classes or not. Most moms come to class to class for the community. Swapping stories about toddler fits, asking advice about sleep training, finding friends to tackle motherhood with, these are the real treasures of FIT4MOM. It also never gets old when these women realize that in the days, weeks, and months of chatting with friends, they have also gained physical strength through the workouts.

In addition to the community, our Stroller Strides and Stroller Barre classes set us apart. It can be challenging to find a new exercise rhythm as a mom. Should you try to work out at home by yourself? Or find a gym with great childcare? What about classes at a gym that don’t cater to your freshly postpartum body? All of our instructors and Pre and Post Natal certified, always taking into account the physical changes that occur throughout motherhood. Our stroller classes allow moms to bring their babies and toddlers with them to work out without having to find childcare. We engage the kids throughout class with songs, bubbles, tickles, and continually traveling with the strollers. Not only do the moms feel good about getting their workout in, but they also love that their kids are having a great time.

Personally, I am most proud that we are a safe place for ALL women to be themselves. Our workouts are accessible for any body type and fitness level. Being postpartum or starting a fitness routine for the first time can feel vulnerable, so our goal is to make every mama feel welcome and successful. We have a judgement and gossip free environment, which goes a long way. My main desire is for moms for feel seen, known, and loved and we just happen to use fitness classes as an avenue to make that happen.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
In my eyes, success for this business looks like continual growth because current members can’t help but tell their friends about FIT4MOM Fort Worth. I want our mamas to feel so loved and taken care of that they want others to experience it too. In the same realm, I want only positive things associated with our reputation, things like: welcoming, loving community, non-intimidating fitness classes, challenging workout for each individual’s needs, a crucial part of the motherhood experience.

My team does a lot of behind the scenes work, like bringing soup to a sick client, flowers for a mom who miscarried, checking in on a mom who is struggling with postpartum depression. When the recipients of these acts of kindness express their gratitude for this village, I feel like we’ve done our job well no matter how many clients showed up to class that day.
