Meet Bernadette Warren of West Plano TX

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bernadette Warren.

Hi Bernadette, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I relocated from San Antonio to the Plano / West Plano area in the summer of 2021 to begin a new chapter in my life and career. I left behind a salon I had owned and a clientele I built over more than 20 years, fully aware that starting over as a hairstylist would take time, patience, and rebuilding from the ground up.

For the first three years, I worked behind the chair building a new clientele while also serving as a caregiver for my grandmother, who was in her late 80s and early 90s at the time. That season was demanding but incredibly meaningful. Being able to care for her as an adult while continuing to grow professionally is something I’ll always be grateful for.

Because of my background as a former salon owner, finding the right professional fit wasn’t easy at first. Eventually, I spent nearly three years at Serenity Salon and Spa, where I not only built my clientele but also found great fulfillment mentoring assistants and new stylists entering the industry. Teaching has always been close to my heart, and I firmly believe there is no cap on learning — no matter your age or experience.

In the fall of 2025, I began to feel a shift. What initially felt like difficulty or uncertainty became clarity. I truly believe it was time to step into something greater. In a matter of five days, I registered my business, secured my EIN, set up my salon studio, rebooked clients, sourced color and retail, and officially opened my doors — right in the middle of the holiday season.

Despite the pressure, my first month exceeded expectations. I launched my Google and Yelp business pages, began rebranding, and invested in Milbon haircare, a Japanese brand known for its exceptional quality and ingredient integrity — something that aligns deeply with my values.

While my business originally launched as Salon Beauty by B, I’m now evolving the brand to Bernadette Beauty Studio, creating a clearer, more distinctive identity. Looking ahead, I envision expanding into my own haircare, skincare, and possibly makeup line one day.

This season of my life is exciting, challenging, and deeply rewarding. Building a business is nerve-wracking, but I’m determined, grounded, and committed to thriving. I’m proud of where I am today and genuinely excited for what’s ahead.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely wasn’t a smooth road. There were many moments when I questioned everything — what have I done? I made a huge life change and left behind an entire life to rebuild a new one from the ground up, both personally and professionally. Starting over in every aspect of life was overwhelming at times.

There were seasons when nothing felt certain, and I had to lean heavily on my faith. Looking back, I truly believe God was guiding me, even when I couldn’t see the full picture. What felt like setbacks or confusion were actually moments of preparation and redirection.

The struggles strengthened me in ways I didn’t expect. They revealed the resilience and strength at my core and taught me to trust God’s timing rather than my own. Every challenge refined my character and confirmed that I’m capable of more than I once believed.

Looking ahead, I feel hopeful and aligned. I trust that the path unfolding before me is purposeful. I’m excited for what’s to come — continued growth, deeper impact, and opportunities that allow me to serve others through my work with intention and heart.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
What I do is highly personalized hair. I’m known for my attention to detail and for being very meticulous with my work. I have the ability to move across the full spectrum of hair design — from classic, refined, highly technical cuts to more modern, fashion-forward, artistic styles that feel fluid, visual, and lived-in. That versatility is one of my greatest strengths.

I specialize in men’s and women’s haircuts using both shear and razor techniques, custom hair color including balayage and dimensional color, Brazilian Blowout smoothing treatments, hair extensions, and professional styling and blowouts. I’m also very focused on hair health, offering treatments that rebuild and strengthen the hair from the inside out so clients can wear their hair beautifully long term.

What sets me apart is the experience I create for each client. I’m a bit of a chameleon in the best way — grounded and confident in who I am, but deeply intuitive when someone sits in my chair. I read the energy of the room. If a client wants a quiet, relaxing appointment, I honor that. If they want connection and conversation, I meet them there. That emotional awareness allows people to feel seen, comfortable, and cared for.

What I’m most proud of is my resilience and commitment over the last four and a half years — rebuilding, refining, and staying true to my standards. I approach every haircut and service with intention, structure, and artistry. Each look is customized to the individual’s lifestyle, personality, and needs. That level of care, consistency, and personalization is what defines my work and sets me apart.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
My advice to anyone starting out is to be patient with the process and trust the timing of your journey. I wish I had known earlier that growth doesn’t happen overnight — real success is built through consistency, humility, and showing up even when progress isn’t immediately visible.

I would also tell people not to rush past the fundamentals. Master your craft, pay attention to detail, and take pride in doing things the right way, even when no one is watching. Trends will come and go, but strong technique, integrity, and professionalism will always carry you.

Another thing I wish I had known sooner is the importance of protecting your energy. Not every environment is meant to be permanent, and it’s okay to move on when something no longer aligns. Listen to what feels right, pray about your decisions, and don’t ignore those inner nudges.

Finally, remember that your path doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s. Comparison can steal your joy and slow your growth. Stay open to learning, stay teachable, and trust that God will place the right people, opportunities, and doors in your life at the right time.
