Meet Bernitha of Mckinney

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bernitha.

Hi Bernitha, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My story really began when I was working as a profession in the Financial Industry of corporate America. Where I spent several years chasing success, promotions, and the next milestone. On paper, everything looked right, but in my spirit something felt off. When life slowed me down, I finally heard God calling me to something deeper. That is how the Bernitha Rena Relates podcast was born. What started as obedience became purpose. Today I simply create space for people to share their stories, and trust that God uses those conversations to bring healing.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it has definitely not been a smooth road, and I think that is the part people do not always see. From the outside, my life looked stable, successful, and well put together. I had done all the right things, so choosing to step away from my “checklist life” and follow God into something uncertain did not make sense to many people. That lack of understanding has made the journey feel very lonely at times.

What made it even more challenging is that I don’t have a full understanding of the why, when, how. It’s impossible to explain to people that while I feel certain that I’m on the right path, that’s all I have. God gave me no details. Most of the time I feel like I’m walking with a flashlight that lets out just enough light to see the next step. Still, I have seen miracle after miracle, but every step has required trust and surrender. Practically speaking, learning to use social media has also stretched me. I was never someone who lived online, and suddenly I had to learn to create, post, share…all these crazy concepts that I have never, ever been interested in. But I had to go where the people are…and most of them are online.

The biggest lesson I have learned is that a voice can help heal people, but it can also hurt people, even if it is rooted in love. So I stay prayerful. I constantly check my heart and my motives, and I do my best to make sure I am walking in His will and not just my own desires.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
What makes my podcast unique is that it is led by faith, not formulas. I do not chase trends, I follow where God leads. The conversations are honest, unfiltered, and rooted in healing, not performance. I create a space where people feel safe enough to tell the truth about their lives. It feels less like an interview and more like sitting at the kitchen table chatting. I want people to know….you are not alone and if you have breath in your body, then God is still writing your story.

Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memories are honestly just sitting nearby listening to the older generation talk. They would tell stories, laugh, and share wisdom, and I was always quietly taking it all in. Sometimes I repeated what I heard. When I was a little girl my family nicknamed me “Information”. Also my Stepdad was the most talkative person you could ever meet. He never met a stranger, and while it drove my Mom a little crazy, I loved it. He taught me that everyone has a story, and sometimes all people really need is someone willing to listen.
