Meet Bethanne Stufflebean of Dallas Dynamic Stretch in North Dallas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bethanne Stufflebean.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Bethanne. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My story starts in 2012 when I stumbled upon a short YouTube mini-workout called “Intro to the Essentrics Workout”, led by Sahra Esmonde-White. 10 minutes in and I was hooked. I had never done anything like it before. I couldn’t believe how great it made me feel. I felt energized and strong, yet my body felt relaxed. Shortly after my introduction to Essentrics, I began studying to become a certified instructor.

In 2013, I became the first Essentrics Instructor in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. This has been a rewarding journey. My clients keep me inspired with their testimonies of greater strength, increased energy, more flexibility, weight loss and improved posture. I especially love it when they tell me how good they feel.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
There have been some challenges! One in particular comes to mind. A few years ago, we remodeled our home. It’s no secret that when you remodel your home it disrupts the flow of normal activities! During this project, I decided to walk away from teaching my classes entirely, never to return.

However, my hiatus was brief, and I jumped back into teaching as soon as the kitchen remodel was complete. It’s not wrong to make a change if it means you are better able to navigate through a challenge with your priorities intact. I needed that. I came out of it refreshed with some great take-aways on how to maintain balance between work and personal life.

Please tell us about Dallas Dynamic Stretch.
I teach a workout called Essentrics, a dynamic stretch workout for all fitness levels that tones, shapes and rebalances the entire body. The Essentrics technique stretches and strengthens all 650 muscles for a healthy, pain-free body. The program was created by Miranda Esmonde-White, New York times best-selling author of “Aging Backwards” whose fitness TV show Classical Stretch has been airing on PBS and Public Television since 1999.

I’ve taught Essentrics in the North Dallas area since 2013. I am proud to be working with clients of all ages and fitness levels. This program is helping to keep people healthy and feeling good at any stage of life. Some walk into my classes who have never exercised regularly have had joint replacements, work sitting all day at a computer, or are in pain. I also teach very active people – runners, cyclists, rowers and dancers. Seeing people of all ages and fitness levels walk out feeling better than when they came in, and then having them return week after week because they are getting results – that’s what I am most proud of.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
There are many things I wish I would have done differently from the beginning, but the most important is that I wish I had managed my time better. I struggled to achieve balance between work and personal life. There’s no easy solution to the work/life balance. It’s still tricky today! However, I’ve learned some tricks of my own to help me stay on course with family priorities intact. Of course, it’s never perfectly balanced. It would be impossible to perfectly balance everything in your life at all times. But I’m far better now at navigating when the balance shifts too far career-side.
