Meet Beverly Brown of Bfit in Southwest Fort Worth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Beverly Brown.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’ve always been into fitness. Running is my passion and favorite pass time since high-school. After participating in numerous 5k’s and marathons, I decided to run my first triathlon which included a 500m swim, 14 mile bike ride and a 3.1 mile run. In order to be in the best shape possible for the triathlon I trained with some local athletes and studied nutrition and the affects food has on the body. In 6 months, I achieved my personal goal of completing my first Triathlon and was in the best shape of my life. I was amazed by the results as well as others. The more I learned, the more I wanted to share what I had learned.

During my studies I became more aware of the deadly diseases associated with the lack of eating the proper foods to support a healthy lifestyle. Many of my family members and friends begin sharing their stories and their struggles with food with me. They were looking for help on how to exercise and eat healthier. I found they simply did not know how.

It was in January of 2013 that I leased space in a tax office and launched my first Bfit Boot Camp with 8 ladies. In this 4 week boot camp, we met 3 times a week at 5:45am. The attendees were provided a nutrition plan to follow. The weight loss was amazing but the real results were the boost in confidence and the change in eating habits.

Intrigued by nutrition, I continued education and received a certificate in Food and Nutrition, and Healthy Low-fat Cooking. From there, Bfit added outdoor boot camps, personal one-on-one training, corporate on-location training and Meal Prepping to its line of services. I also conduct healthy cooking workshops, nutrition camps and seminars to Women’s Groups, Wellness Fairs and corporate offices.

Just this past November, I hosted my first “It’s a Lifestyle” seminar in Fort Worth to help promote a healthy, well-balanced lifestyle within the community.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
In the same year I launched my business, my doctor recommended a hysterectomy. My surgery was in November. I was not able to physically exercise until the beginning of the year. At the age of 48 I was now experiencing the effects of hormone in-balancing. My 10-12 miles runs turned in 2-3 miles runs and my weight started begin to increase.

Thankfully, my studies on nutrition helped me to get back on track and share my experiences with others.

Please tell us about Bfit.
My primary focus includes assessing health conditions of my clients to formulate health goals. This includes providing them with customized meals plans for weight-loss and/or diet and detox plans to jump-start their healthy living.

I provide tailored specialized one-on-one coaching sessions to help my clients achieve their goals of living a healthy lifestyle. This can include run coaching to help them run their first 5k, personal or group training, meals plans and cooking demonstrations and recipes to help them cook better for their families.

I also provided weekly meal prep service with includes an option of 6 or 10 healthy meals delivered each week.

I’m most proud of my clients that share their stories of sleeping better at night, taking less medication, participating in their first race and overall living and feeling healthier. Weight-loss is an added bonus.

The passion I have for my clients is beyond measurable. I offer FREE delivery for my Meal Prep service and I look forward to seeing my clients each and every week. It’s heart-warming to hear how much they are enjoying their healthy meals and look forward to receiving their “brown paper bag” each week.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
I would have to say cooking with my grandmothers. I spent summers with one grandmother in East Texas. I sat on the porch with her as she shelled peas and cleaned greens and shared biblical stories with me. Older I spent time in the kitchen with another grandmother. She shared proper etiquettes on setting the table and the importance of food presentation.

I guess you can say this is where my passion of food came from.
