Today we’d like to introduce you to Big Homie Joe.
So, before we jump into specific questions about your art, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
It all started the first time I walked into a tattoo shop. The whole atmosphere and everything just felt right? Like that’s where I was meant to be. So I went home and started drawing, and have literally been chasing the dream ever since. It definitely hasn’t been an easy road to get to my current status. There were many long nights of continuously drawing or painting. I’ve lost a lot of people trying to get to this point as well, but I wouldn’t change anything that occurred during the process because that’s what has shaped my character into the person I am today.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Dealing with people coming in and out of my life was a struggle, but I feel like not everyone is meant to be in your life forever, you know? Like maybe they’re just placed there to keep you focused for that moment. I also worked at jobs I didn’t really like, but the bills had to be paid. I literally hustled and grinder for this.
Ink Plug Tattoo – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I own Ink Plug Tattoo Co. It’s located in Bricktown, OKC. I do dope tattoos! I specialize in black and grey realism. I tattoo professional athletes as well as a lot of Athletes that attend universities all over the state. I feel like what sets me apart from everyone is that I’m just chill and laid back. I don’t treat anyone different, whether you’re just a normal 9-5 worker or an NBA All-star, you get the same love from me.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Opening up my own shop was huge. When you get the title “business owner,” next to your name, it definitely hits you a little different.
