Today we’d like to introduce you to Blaine Sibby.
Blaine, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Prior to joining Zenith, I was a United States Marine Corps Officer for eight years where I served as an Armor (tank) Officer. I deployed to Afghanistan in 2012-2013 and a year thereafter my wife and I rotated to my next duty station in Frankfurt, Germany where I served as the Executive Officer for 20 Marine Security Guard Detachments across Western Europe, Scandianavia, the UK and Eastern Mediterranean.
During my time in Europe, my wife and I made the decision to transition off of active duty. I was actively pursuing my MBA at the time and exploring options for new career avenues. We considered starting our own business when Allan, my father in law offered me a position at the company. After careful consideration, we decided that the opportunity was too good to pass on. It would provide us great experience and benefits of working with our family and learning from great business professionals like Allan and Debra Rodger who have been running Zenith and a handful of other companies for nearly 40 years!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Like anyone I have experienced my share of obstacles, but I look at everyone of them as a lesson learned and an opportunity to grow. I moved around a lot as a kid and have lived around the country, I think that helped make me socially adaptable. I’ve never been exceptionally gifted at any single thing, which I believe makes me work harder. My wife and I never lived closer than two hours away from each other before we got married and then we lived in a foreign country together for the first time on our own! That experience came with its challenges, we had to learn so much on the fly about our environment, ourselves and each other. However, I think we are the strongest couple I know because of it we are so close and absolute best friends because we grew so much together.
Please tell us about Zenith Roofing Services. What should we know?
Zenith Roofing Services, LLC was started by Allan Rodger in 1980. Allan started as a residential roofer and was able to grow into a commercial roofer over the years. Zenith has installed nearly every roof imaginable over the years but what I believe we are known for is our ability to take on any challenge. There are a lot of projects that other contractors don’t want to touch because of how difficult the job might be. The subtle nuances of completing projects while maintaining high standards are difficult when you are dealing with active workspaces that are not designated new construction sites.
The ability to control your site without disrupting others is not easy and we ensure a high level of attention to detail to ensure that everything is well thought out and managed on the job. However, I am most proud of the example the company sets in the community. This year Allan was awarded by Fort Worth Business Press as 2019 Most Charitable Philanthropist for all the work he does with the Fort Worth Police Department Powerlifting Team as well as his work with several children’s organizations, the Ronald McDonald House, Alliance for Children, Speedway Charities, Wish with Wings, Shrine Hospital and KLTY Christman Wish. Our sister company Christmas by Zenith has been installing all the outside Christmas lights and decorated the Christmas tree for the Ronald McDonald House Tree Lighting for over 20 years.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I try to be a person of high moral character. Someone that people trust and know that will do his best to take care of his work to a high standard.
