Today we’d like to introduce you to Carolyn Butler.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I fell in love with men’s fashion when I was in foster care. My adopted father had the most amazing suits, shoes and ties. I thought it was the most amazing thing next to engines. It was my escape from things I was going through to play with his sport coat and ties (It was all I could fit). One day he caught me playing with one of his ties, so he taught me to tie it.
I went to modeling school but, I still had this addiction for men’s fashion. I began to where buttons downs, neckties and bow ties. I have two sons who became a huge motivation because I could dress them in suits, ties and suspenders for school and church. I moved from New Orleans to Houston by way of Hurricane Katrina and I began to work with a small Clothier five years ago learning the basic measurements. I came to Carrollton by way of Hurricane Harvey two years ago and I met another Clothier which I began to work with for a short time but quickly realized I wanted more than to create and style men, I also wanted to create women’s as well. I left him and learned from another clothier about fabric, custom, bespoke, made to measure and off-the-rack that’s when I realized what it was all about. I decided to create and style alone as I have my own thoughts on style and designs while making it affordable. It is a part of me I love it. I was always told you have to love what you do and I can admit I actually do especially my client’s gratitude. That’s the best part to receive the thank you’s! Makes it all worth it.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has been rough because not everyone is willing to share their knowledge with you. Some will and some will only share so much. As a woman there is so much competition with the men. As woman we have to study and educate ourselves. But it’s worth it.

The Blak Suite is a Clothier Brand, specializing in Men’s, Women’s and Children custom TailorMade clothing. We are known for bespoke, custom-tailored attire. I’m a proud female entrepreneur Stylist/Clothier Brand that is able to provide an affordable services to anyone. I’m Thankful and Grateful… I’m a female who loves Bespoke but I’m a woman who wears it. I love what I do so I wear what I do.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success is a mental growth that you feel, believe, trust and manifest it into reality. You have to know that there will be obstacles and you will fall or fail it is all apart of the process but, you have to be willing to go through it pick yourself up and realize you will fall a few more times before you get it right. I wouldn’t say I’m looking I’m just very observant and I listen. I’m always thinking and creating.
