Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandi Salerno.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I graduated from Little Elm High School in 2005. I then went to Texas State University and graduated in 2009 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography. I started my career as a portrait photographer thinking I would never move toward the wedding business. It was extremely intimidating at the time. In 2013, I got the opportunity to start second shooting weddings with my favorite photographer. It was the most incredible and valuable experience for me. Second shooting 50+ weddings is what gave me the confidence to do it on my own and it is absolutely my passion. It is truly an honor to be a part of so many love stories and to help create lasting memories for all my sweet clients.
In my spare time, I hang out with my two kids and my high school sweetheart turned husband. I’m a big fan of coffee, bacon and live music. It doesn’t take much to make me happy! 🙂
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I would say my biggest struggle has been comparing myself to other photographers. I wanted my business to be just as “successful” as those I followed and those who inspired me. It was hard to be patient while I built a clientele. I have just recently found a solid groove and feel comfortable where I am. I feel successful in the fact that I have incredible clients who constantly share my work with others, I get to stay home with my precious kids, and I make new friends everyday. I honestly believe that I have the best job in the world that never actually feels like job.
Please tell us about Brandi Allyse Photography.
I am a wedding and lifestyle photographer. Although I live in North Dallas, I am never opposed to travel. I like to have fun with my clients! My goal is to show their weird, goofy, snuggly, adventurous love in my photos. We’ll play games, we will run, they’ll whisper awkward phrases in each other’s ears and we will all laugh a LOT! And, I’m not sure if I’m “known” for this but I will be on the dance floor at the wedding.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite childhood memory….. okay, I grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma and I was a HUGE FAN of the boy band, Hanson. My favorite memory was getting a phone call one evening from Taylor Hanson himself! My cousin saw him at a coffee shop and called. It was only a couple minute conversation about who knows what and I’m pretty sure, I blacked out. It was the most exciting thing that could have ever happened at the time. My whole life was made! Haha!
