Today we’d like to introduce you to Taye And Brandi.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Taye And Brandi. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Brandi Johnson: I started my photography business back in December of 2017 with just my iPhone 7 Plus and a lot of support. With hard work and determination to let people see that my work is worthy, I am where I am today.
Lamonte Whitehead: I started my apprenticeship in 2014 in Missouri then I moved to Dallas in 2015 for better opportunities in chasing the Dream I had set in mind. I worked at two shops in Dallas before I built the confidence to go ahead and open my own tattoo studio in 2019.
Has it been a smooth road?
Brandi Johnson: With being in the photography industry, it can be challenging at times but fun at other times. I’m working hard to get my art/ passion out so that people know the message that I am trying to put out.
Lamonte Whitehead: I have faced many obstacles and challenges to get where I am today. I wouldn’t have made it this far if my losses didn’t turn to lessons, and I’m very thankful for them. Getting in the tattoo world is not an easy task, we go through apprenticeships which you get hazed most of the time while learning. When I got out of my apprenticeship and I had to find a shop to work in many shops turned me down,
BrandiLensPhotography and Galaxy Ink Studio – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Brandi Johnson: As a photographer, I specialize in natural light portrait photography. I just love getting up close and personal with my photos and clients. What I think makes me different from other people is my personality. I believe that helps a great deal in creating beautiful works of art.
Lamonte Whitehead: I’m an ARTIST, I draw, paint, sculpt, and tattoo for a living. I guess you can say that I’m known for my Galaxy paintings and of course my tattoo work. As a company I’m most proud that it’s independent. Hats set me apart from the others that everything that do is custom drawn and made.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Brandi Johnson: In the next 5-10 years I see my company making big changes and making a name for itself. Helping to change the face of photography and to show people that there is no right or wrong way to take photographs and that everyone is different and unique in their own way. I want others to feel confident in their own skin.
Lamonte Whitehead; Within the next 5-10 years I will have expanded my business. I want to change the perspective on how others view Tattoo Artist. I know how hard it was to get your foot in the door in the tattoo industry so I want to give opportunities to other artist so they can provide for them self and feed their families.
