Meet Brandon Barnett of Barnett Howard & Williams in Fort Worth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandon Barnett.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I attended law school shortly after being commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Marine Corps. Following law school, I served as an active duty judge advocate for the Marines for the next seven years. While in the Marine Corps, I served as a prosecutor and a command advisor, deploying to Iraq in 2008 with the Third Marine Aircraft Wing. After my service in the Marine Corps, I returned to the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex, where I had grown up.

I partnered with two of my best friends from law school, Jason Howard and Luke Williams, to form a small criminal defense and personal injury law firm. They were both prosecutors at the District Attorney’s Office in Lubbock before we started our law firm. We all left our government organizations to serve people on an individual basis.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Naturally, it is scary to start a new business, especially when you are leaving a large government department to go out on your own. Our road was smoother than most for several reasons. First, the partners in our firm are best friends and highly supportive of one another. Second, the legal community in Fort Worth was very accommodating and friendly. We were offered help all along the way from fellow attorneys, judges, and court staff. Fort Worth really is the biggest small town in America.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Barnett Howard & Williams – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Our law firm practices criminal defense and personal injury law. We are diligent to fully investigate all of our cases and we take the time to really get to know our clients. We try to employ creative solutions and take a whole person approach to the legal system. We recognize that sometimes there are viable options outside of the traditional legal avenues. Our team of attorneys and support staff has a synergy that help us to be effective as a firm. We are proud to be named as Top Attorneys by Fort Worth Magazine every year since 2013, and to have been recognized as the “Best Law Firm” in Fort Worth by the readers of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram in 2017.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Our firm recently added a fourth partner, Jesse Lotspeich. He will be managing the personal injury practice of the law firm. We are excited to be adding Jesse to the team and look forward to helping accident victims in North Texas with the same personal touch and compassionate approach that we have become known for in our criminal cases.
