Meet Brandon Davis of Vive City Church in The Design District

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandon Davis.

Growing up in Detroit, Brandon experienced gang violence and bullying. He constantly questioned his worth because of how he was treated. He tried to gain significance by conforming to and following the crowd. He discovered that his pursuit would only leave him empty. He couldn’t measure up to religion’s impossible rules and regulations, so he sank deep into depression and struggled with thoughts of self-harm. He hit rock bottom. But God met him right where he was. God’s love lifted Brandon out of the pit of despair and steadied his steps. Religion’s impossible rules says that people must climb their way out of their mess to get to God, but the relationship says that Jesus climbed down from His throne to lift us from our mess. Vive City’s mission is to point people to a relationship with Jesus.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Anything worth doing has challenges. Relocating to a new state, a new city created a lot of obstacles: finding a house that can become home, new school for our daughter, finding new friends, and finding people who are as passionate about making a difference in Dallas as we are is no easy journey.

Please tell us about Vive City Church – what should we know?
Vive City Church isn’t your typical church. Vive City Church has a mission for our guests to experience love, belonging and significance. We believe that everyone has a God-given purpose. We exist to connect people with their purpose, so collectively, we can make a difference in Dallas.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My wife, Meshi deserves just as much credit of where Vive City Church is. Her prayers and unwavering support and encouragement have made it possible for us to reach the success we have. Our amazing Vive Team (volunteers) offer excellent service every Sunday. They came hours before our worship experience and set up audio/video equipment, put out chairs, set up children’s ministry equipment, and greet guests with love and friendliness, and so much more so that people can enjoy service and experience God’s love in a tangible way. We would not exist without the Vive Team!
