Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandyn Harris.
Brandyn, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
When I was 21, I applied for a passport. I had never ventured to another country before but had a burning desire to travel the world.
Fast forward a few years later, and that dream came true for me in a big way. Family and friends kept contacting me to help them plan their trips. After doing this for a while, I started a travel agency and began chasing my dream, multiple countries at a time. While traveling, I got lost many times (let’s not say how many). But despite the lack of technology, phone signal, or presence of a populace in many cases, I kept going. I’m that person. Once I say I’ll do something, it will happen.
In March of this year, we joined forces with several other travel advisors, notably Buena Montero of Bon-Bon Voyage and Cheyenne Schriefer of All Travel Matters to form a venture where travel advisors could be appreciated, rewarded, trained, and valued.
From eclectic to luxury to unique, experiences that we plan for our clients (they aren’t trips); are memorable. With us, we aim to make every journey both far and near, a unique experience with our clients in mind.
Our company is not only about providing our clients the best customer experience they could imagine, it’s also about providing our current and future travel advisors a place where they have a seat at the table.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Of course not. As it is with any business owner, there are challenges along the way. Many times I found myself wanting to quit or felt lost and isolated. These are things that anyone in business feels because there is likely no one to guide them along just as it was for me.
That’s a big part of who I am today and how I have crafted our company to support advisors from day one onward so as not to leave them alone in their challenges. We are a true team here.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
Our business is a travel agency. While many people might say, a travel agency? I thought all of those disappeared in the 90s. While that sentiment is true in the fact that storefront agencies have all but disappeared, agencies do exist and they’ve actually been growing in numbers but exist more on a home-based business model which is exactly what we are.
We currently have five travel advisors located in Dallas, McKinney, Plano, and Golden Valley, North Dakota; a travel advisor support associate located in Dallas, a event and groups support associate located in Sulphur Bluff, and our marketing director located in Ennis.
Each of us specializes in a different area from adventure to cruising to groups, honeymoons, and weddings but as a company and agency, we focus on customer service much like you’d find at a Ritz Carlton. It’s always about the customer and the experience they have with us.
We are most proud of our ease of doing business and our transparency with clients which is also what sets us apart. While you can go to many places online and purchase “packages”, with us, you can have full transparency about pricing line by line. I think that’s something you won’t find often in the industry but with my background in finance, it’s the only way I know how to do business.
There’s nothing more frustrating than purchasing a hotel room only to find out that you have resort fees and taxes due that the website you chose to do your business with didn’t disclose to you until checkout or later. With us, the price you see is the price you get.
Our biggest demographic we service? Millennials. While many people give millennials a beating in the news, millennials are the future workforce of America and I count myself as one as well. With all the technology and most of my generation growing up with it, they still would like someone with experience to plan it for them. That’s where we come in.
What were you like growing up?
I would say growing up I was very much the person that “stayed in their lane” most of the time. I was someone you would be shocked to see in trouble at school and the person that was organized and professional in everything I did. I’ve been characterized since high school as an “old soul”. I embrace that. Experiences and history are my passion and seeing the world while sharing it with my clients is what I wake up for each day.
