Today we’d like to introduce you to Braxton Kilgo.
Braxton, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
This company was shaped over the course of about two years. Many factors played into the depth of this movement. I also own an apparel company called Vision. One of our fan favorites and top-selling products is a silicon bracelet that represents being a part of Team Vision. I realized that this product was super popular and because of the meaning placed on the item, our customers were giving them away to others. This was interesting to me and I really loved the idea of sharing meaning and purpose with others through products. Adding deep value to a simple item. So during this time of recognition, I also had the opportunity to speak at a middle school assembly.
While writing the speech I pondered on what I could do to give a lasting memory to these kids and something physical for them to be reminded of it after I went home. I thought about my bracelets and adding a quote for them that highlighted the topic of my talk. My speech was about believing, chasing, and achieving. I placed a big emphasis on belief. I talked about self-belief, confidence, and believing in others. I decided that on the bracelets I would write “I Believe In You”, unfortunately, though my budget at the time did not allow me to make 1000 bracelets with this quote on them. So I decided that I would make some stickers for them that they could place on their phones, folders, computers, etc. I also told them that they could hold on to them and eventually share it with someone else, maybe someone at home. Before I even arrived home that day I had already heard back that the stickers were making impact in that school. Some kids wrote me letters and others messaged me on Facebook. I also received a call from the school saying that the kids would speak about my talk weeks later. This was an amazing feeling, knowing that I just provided a small, simple message alongside a product to vehicle the interactions. This sparked more of the idea in my mind.
Over time and with many conversations I felt that this was big, that it needed to be its own entity and not just a small added product to my current brand. The bracelets idea grew and grew. I wanted a unique, capable and stylish band. A band that was more than just a bracelet, in meaning and in functionality. Thinking about all the amazing stories that would come from this I just hated knowing we would never be able to hear them all. So I studied different technology capabilities and worked with many manufacturers on customizing a very small waterproof near field communication chip that would allow our bands to interact with a mobile app. Our mobile app will allow the stories to be forever captured and travel the world with each individual band. It will act as a digital diary for our brand and all of its users. Now we are about one week away from launch. This is going to be a wave of positivity and kindness. This is just WAVE ONE, we can’t wait to unveil the rest of our vision to the world.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road here has been long, but greatness is something that takes time. I have done all that I know how to do in order to ensure that the foundation of this movement is very very sturdy. The biggest struggle has just been patience. Very soon it will all be worth it.
Please tell us about The I Believe In You Movement.
The IBIY MVMNT is a next level bracelet company created to connect and make kindness cool. They are fashionable, they are versatile, but more importantly, they are purposeful. We have a patented technology/concept that sets our bands apart from all other competition in this niche.
What were you like growing up?
I’ve always liked the idea of being my own boss. Just from watching my surroundings as a kid I recognized qualities that I wanted in people who were business owners. They had freedom in life and in finances. I’ve always loved people and I’ve always felt deep purpose to act on that. With that being said that is why all of my companies are purpose driven. I was interested in sports mostly but that is what developed my character and work ethic for everything I have pursued since.
