Today we’d like to introduce you to Brenda Rubi Lopez.
Brenda, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My story began when I was just a little girl. One of my absolute favorite things to do as a kid was to draw on the walls of my house. My parents were not happy about having to re-paint the walls over and over again. Eventually, they gave up on re-painting and just let me draw until my heart was content. As the years went by, my passion for arts and crafts became stronger and stronger. I found it as a way to relieve stress. Something about it was just so mesmerizing to me. Being able to doodle, paint, and create things that my friends and family thought were unique inspired me to have started Brendaaillustrations. If it weren’t for the potential they saw within me. I probably wouldn’t have got this far in my little journey today.
I’m extremely grateful for my fiance Juan M Preciado for being my number one supporter and fan. My mother, whose always been there for me since day one. For the friends and family who have provided me with words of encouragement and pushed me to enter the small business world. To those people who have ever purchased something from me, it is because of you that my passion for art and business continues. And to my dad, who is no longer here with us, thank you for raising me to never give up no matter how tough the road can get. Now, Brendaaillustrations has expanded to having its very own Etsy Shop as well as selling some of my creations at a local shop in the Bishop Arts area, the Autumn Moon Store.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has definitely been an adventure being where I am today. Being an only child, I grew up being an introverted person and almost always avoided socializing with others. It was something really scary for me but thankfully, my fiance has burst that bubble and has taught me the importance of socializing and getting to know the world around me. Now, I absolutely enjoy meeting new people and love interacting and getting to know others. My dad passing away was also something very hard for me to go through but he only made me work harder and to really believe in myself and my art. Now, one of my biggest struggles has got to be finding that balance with being a full-time employee for Dallas ISD, a full-time student at Texas Woman’s University, and running my small business. I’ve grown to love everything I do and I’m slowly learning how to manage my time and being able to successfully succeed in all things. I’m beyond blessed to be where I am now despite the challenges.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Brendaaillustrations – what should we know?
Brendaaillustrations specializes in making custom and memorable products such as coasters, keychains, koozies, stickers, and t-shirts. My business is known for our inspiring and cute little doodles on our Instagram page, as well as our bestseller, the Spotify Glass Art frame. This glass art is currently trending and makes one of the best gifts for your friend, a family member, or significant other. I am most proud of the quality, care, and love that is put on every single one of our custom items, as well as the cute packaging that takes care of it as it is being delivered to its destination.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
The most important thing that I believe is vital when it comes to my success is the genuine desire to follow what I love to do. It is said that if you love what you do, then you will never work a day in your life.
