Meet Bri Speights of Precision Bartending

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bri Speights.

Bri, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’m from Flint, MI born and raised. I’ve always had a go-getter mind state and entrepreneurial spirit so when I turned 19 I decided it was time for a change. I relocated to Phoenix, AZ and stayed there for two years before I decided to move to Texas. I moved to Texas in 2011 and have been here ever since. Since moving to Texas I have become a Wife and mother. Where I’m from it’s a very small city and it’s hard to branch out because all of my family is there and relocating somewhere where you don’t have any family can be tough. However, I knew the opportunities I wanted for myself were elsewhere and not in Michigan. I’ve always loved mixing drinks together and learning different recipes but I never took Bartending serious. It was just something I did at family and friends functions. I was at work one day and I was trying to figure out profitable ways to become my own boss. That’s when I looked into the business side of Private Event Bartending. I learned a lot of information and took some online courses as well. From there I became state certified and did a few free bookings just to get the feel of being my own boss. Six months later Precision Bartending was born!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The challenging part, in the beginning, was being so eager to have everything I wanted all at once. I had to realize Rome was not built in a day and everything takes time. My mother always says “Patience is a virtue” and I know exactly what she means now. As long as we keep pushing forward and stay consistent we will get to where we are trying to be.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Precision Bartending – what should we know?
We are a Mobile Bartending company. We bring all the fun to any event. We specialize in creating signature cocktails and a custom drink menu. We provide everything except alcohol. By everything, we mean cups, straws, ice, mixers, and garnishments. We even have a portable bar. What sets us apart from other businesses is our eagerness to please our clients and ensure not only do they have a great time but their guests as well. A bartender can turn a bad day into a great day or a good day into an even better one. Our motto is: We will always provide superior service The Precise Way.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My mother and my oldest sister have always been my motivation for becoming an entrepreneur. My mother did catering back in Michigan and my sister did hair. My sister started doing hair at 13 or 14 years old. I remember I would walk into her room and it would be about three girls waiting to get there hair did and they did not mind waiting at all. At such a young age she was bringing in her own money every day. My husband is my biggest supporter. He’s very articulate and great with words. He helps me brainstorm and gather ideas to set my business apart from others. He provides great feedback and uplifts me when I feel defeated. My friends and family near and far have supported me through this entire journey. I’ll always be grateful!
