Meet Brian and Becky Banner of Knotting Hill Place in Little Elm

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brian and Becky Banner.

Brian, Becky, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
What started as a casual conversation led to years of research and design. The love of faith, family, friends, world travel and entertaining inspired us to construct a place where magnificent memories can be made. Early on a strategic decision was made that we would NOT be like all the other venues. We wanted something exquisite and distinctive.

Four core principles were established:
Craft uniqueness and character in our design.
Never skimp on service.
Maintain flexible hospitality.
Build and protect a brand of excellence.

Our Grand Opening will be this fall and Knotting Hill Place will be an amazing estate and grounds where we can host events that can only be found in fairy tales

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
This project has been in the works for several years. We had the desire to build a venue with a European estate feel. In the beginning our plans were to build on enough land so that we could host lavish outdoor events surrounded by trees and nature. However, thinking about Texas weather made us quickly realize that not only did we want a beautiful outdoor setting, we needed an indoor ceremony option as well without having to “flip” a room. We were blessed to find a great 5-acre parcel of land within the city limits of Little Elm where we could begin our journey. The challenge has been to develop the land and build a venue that looks like a luxurious mansion while still meeting all the regulatory requirements of commercial construction. The City of Little Elm has been very development-friendly and great to work with thus far. I am sure our challenges of building are not unique. Every day has been a new obstacle to maneuver. We are now in prime engagement and venue booking season and construction is moving very fast. It has been crazy and fun to give “hard hat tours” around inclement weather and construction. Everyone that has toured love our vision and we are booking fast.

Knotting Hill Place – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
The Dallas area has an abundance of event venues. We knew we wanted to differentiate ourselves and create something that was unique to all North Texas. We spent a significant amount of time researching all the market. We found most outdoor venues did not have an indoor chapel/cathedral area. There are also quite a few venues that are outside the metroplex in remote areas. We wanted a very private estate feel that is also “uberable” and near high end hotels. Our location is on five minutes from Interstate 35 and the North Dallas tollway.

We have given attention to every detail of our 17,000 sq. ft. Estate to create a picture spot around every corner. We will have a beautiful gazebo, fountains, waterfalls, fire features, statues, stone arches, soaring ceilings and chandeliers spread throughout the estate and outdoor gardens. We are carefully selecting our preferred partners and will be known for our five-star service and attention to detail. All this and much more will truly set us apart from others.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
It is a great feeling when others see our venue and feel like it is the perfect place to create their own dream event!

Having the courage to step out of our comfort zone and the confidence to make our dream a reality has been a proud moment.
