Meet Briana Sampson of Rooted Healing Therapy, PLLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Briana Sampson.

Briana, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My curiosity for understanding people and emotions started long before I ever realized it would become my life’s work. Even as a kid, I was the one quietly observing – trying to make sense of difficult things happening around me and wondering what was underneath. Looking back, that early curiosity was the spark that eventually led me into the field of psychology.

Fast forward to college – when it came time to choose a major, psychology felt less like a choice and more like coming home. It gave me language for what I had always intuitively noticed: that our stories, our relationships, and our sense of safety shape everything about how we move through the world. That foundation led me to pursue my Master’s in Clinical Counseling: Marriage and Family Therapy, where I fell in love with helping people heal through connection and understanding.

Early in my career, I worked in a variety of settings, supporting individuals and families through some of their hardest seasons. But it wasn’t until becoming a mother myself that everything truly shifted. I quickly realized how isolating and overwhelming that transition can be; even when it’s filled with love and joy. I saw firsthand how much support women and families need in the perinatal and postpartum space, and how little is often available.

That experience became the heart behind Rooted Healing Therapy. A space I founded to help people feel seen, supported, and grounded again. I wanted to create a practice where clients could show up as their full selves: messy, strong, uncertain, brave – and know they’re not alone. Over time, our team has grown, and so has our vision. We specialize in trauma, perinatal mental health, EMDR, and relational healing, serving individuals, couples, and parents across Texas, California, and beyond.

Looking back, every step – the challenges, the burnout, the moments of grace- has shaped me into the therapist, business owner, and mom I am today. My work is no longer just about therapy sessions; it’s about building community, empowering other clinicians, and reminding people that healing is possible, even when it doesn’t look perfect.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
As I have navigated over 10 years as a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) my path hasn’t been without its challenges. In many ways, the obstacles have helped me learn and pushed me out of my comfort zone.

In the early years, there was a lot of self-doubt. wondering how I was going to hold space for others while still figuring out my own healing and therapeutic style. Then came the growing pains of balancing motherhood, marriage, and building a business all at once. There were seasons where I felt stretched thin and unsure if I could keep all the pieces moving.

Owning a practice also brought a different set of challenges- learning how to lead, set boundaries, and trust myself as both a clinician and an entrepreneur. There were moments of burnout, difficult business decisions, and times when the weight of caring for others felt heavy.

But each of those seasons taught me something vital – that growth rarely feels graceful, and healing doesn’t mean perfection. Every obstacle has deepened my empathy and strengthened my belief that it’s okay to pause, to ask for help, and to rebuild with intention. It’s through those experiences that I’ve learned to model for my clients what I truly believe: that healing is not linear, but it is always possible.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Rooted Healing Therapy was born out of both professional passion and personal experience. We’re a private practice based in North Texas that provides therapy for individuals, couples, and parents navigating life’s transitions – from trauma and anxiety to the journey of pregnancy, postpartum, and parenthood. We can see clients throughout the state of Texas virtually (in person in Argyle/Bartonville). We can also see clients in CA Virtually.

We specialize in perinatal mental health and trauma therapy, using modalities like EMDR to help clients process deeply held experiences and find lasting healing. What sets us apart is our focus on the whole person – not just symptoms. We believe therapy should feel like a safe exhale, a space where people can slow down, reconnect with themselves, and feel truly seen.

Brand-wise, I’m most proud that Rooted Healing Therapy feels human. Our brand is gentle, grounded, and approachable- intentionally designed to reflect the kind of care we offer inside the therapy room. From the calming environment to the compassionate clinicians who are part of our team, every detail is built around helping clients feel supported from the moment they reach out. Connection is crucial.

At its heart, Rooted Healing Therapy exists to remind people that healing doesn’t have to be rushed or linear. We help clients find their footing again- to feel rooted, whole, and connected to themselves and the life they want to create. Hope is possible and healing is within reach.

How do you think about luck?
I’ve never really seen my story through the lens of luck, at least not in the traditional sense. For me, it’s been a mix of timing, grace, hard work, and a lot of faith. There have been seasons that felt like setbacks – doors that closed, plans that fell apart, or moments where things didn’t unfold the way I hoped. But looking back, those “bad luck” moments were often quiet redirections toward something better aligned.

The “good luck” has shown up in the people who’ve crossed my path at the exact right time – mentors, colleagues, and clients who reminded me why I do this work. Even the timing of starting Rooted Healing Therapy, though it felt uncertain at first, now feels like it was meant to unfold exactly the way it did.

So, while I don’t know if I’d call it luck, I’d say I’ve been incredibly fortunate- to have learned from challenges, to have been supported by the right people, and to be doing work that feels deeply meaningful. It’s a mix of preparation meeting opportunity, guided by a lot of heart and purpose. God has opened doors and allowed Rooted Healing to grow and provide more support to people in the community and I am so grateful.
