Meet Brianna Davila of Earthside Birth in North Dallas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brianna Davila.

Brianna, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
When I became pregnant with my first son, I fell madly in love with the function of the female body. I took hold of any resource I could, eager to fill my brain with knowledge and found myself extremely inspired by the art of creation. I knew I wanted to jump into birth work, so I began photographing births in 2016. The late-night calls sent my adrenalin flowing, and I was consumed by oxytocin vibes. After birthing our second son at home in December 2018, I knew it was time to become certified as a doula. I received my certification and attended several beautiful births but now feel so led to take a moment away from birth work to expand my business, Earthside Birth.

Throughout my own birth experiences and the experiences of others, I’ve found healing, which has created a new path for Earthside Birth. 2020 has been a wild journey of self-discovery and release of toxic ideas, belief systems, experiences. Every day I step further into my calling and find beauty in the mess of life. I recognize that my story is mine and I admire my vulnerability. I’ve been shown that now, more than ever, our society is craving connection on an intimate level, so I speak my truth daily. This year I’ll be launching a podcast, supporting women through conversation, learning more about the human body, healing, creating, connecting, and expanding. Earthside birth is a sisterhood, a safe place to be heard, an environment of radical love and acceptance. Visit my website at www.brainnadavila.com to learn more about me!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
We must remain in a mindset of continual growth. Our minds are like gardens, we plant seeds deep in their soil, and those seeds require lots of watering, love, affection, and encouragement to sprout roots. Our soil has to be enriched and full of nutrients in order for the seeds to flourish. If we don’t tend to the garden of our mind, nothing will ever be a smooth road. The small bumps will seem like mountains and we will continue to suffer. I’ve decided to no longer suffer through my journey but instead smile at the beauty that comes from any experience, good or bad. Past struggles are no longer relevant to where I am going.

Please tell us about your business.
Earthside birth is a transforming business that started with birth photography and doula services. As 2020 approached I felt so led to take a step back from birth work and begin expanding the healing services of Earthside Birth which include launching a podcast, supporting women through conversation, learning more about the human body, healing, creating, and connecting. Earthside birth is a sisterhood; a safe place to be heard. I am an earthside doula. I am a sister, coming alongside women to support and encourage them throughout their healing journey. I’m cultivating an environment of radical love and acceptance.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Nothing at all.
