Meet Brianna Ortiz

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brianna Ortiz.

Brianna Ortiz

Hi Brianna, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
Becoming an artist wasn’t by choice but by accident. I remember going to the store with my grandma and picking out a few brushes and simple paints to get my started. I decided to try painting because I had read that it could be therapeutic. I’d agree and say that it has helped me in more ways than one over the years. I paint and sell artwork a lot more now than I used to, and I surely wasn’t expecting to fall in love with expressing how I feel by painting on a canvas.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
With art, it’s not as smooth as you’d think. Being in the art industry can be challenging, competitive, and at times you can get burnt out. I’d say my biggest struggle is getting artist’s block or just simply not having enough time or energy to paint during the week especially since I have a full-time job.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I like to think that I’m different than others, but if you think about it, we creatives are very much alike. We paint, sculpt, draw, or photograph to escape from reality, and it can be a stress reliever. Times are rough, and with many issues going on in humanity, it is nice to get lost in something beautiful. I would say that I specialize in the use of color and color theory, line work painting DragonBall Z-themed pieces, and being overall versatile.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
I’ve met a lot of people in the art industry and enthusiasts, but the majority of my support system comes from social media. Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok have been great outlets for me to showcase my work. Aside from the internet, I do have some in-person support that I appreciate very much. My immediate family, coworkers, and friends definitely cheer me on and often question what are my plans for my next big project.
