Meet Britanie Phan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Britanie Phan.

Britanie, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My entire life I have been put in front of a camera by family and I always loved it. After I graduated high school, a friend of mine urged me to pursue modeling as a career, so I decided to look into it.

One thing led to another, and I got my foot in the door and just dove right in. I had so much help from my friend and the first photographer I worked with, Otis Craig who helped me to build a portfolio and put my name officially on the map.

The Hendrix family helped me to find connections that led to where I am now. I would have never had a career in this industry without them. It has taken a lot of support from my entire family to always focus on the end goal.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
My dad always said that if something was easy, everyone would do it. Nothing in life is easy, but it’s so worth it. No matter what your goal is, the end result makes all the hardships worth it.

I’m not your typical “model type” so I have been rejected by people in the industry however I have not let that slow me down.

Starting out I struggled to find photographers to work with me, and I’ve had a lack of confidence along the way. I’ve just learned that you have to hold your head up no matter what or else your crown will fall.

We’d love to hear more about what you do.
I specialize in boudoir; however, I am open to any modeling. I am different from most models because I’m not your normal model size. I am your average sized female. I am huge on body positivity.

The industry is extremely hard to get into, but it’s even harder when you are “just average.”

What makes me so special though is I am so relatable. I want to prove a point to not only the industry but to the world that everyone is beautiful and anyone can be a model.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up I always kept myself busy. I was a part of student council, I took karate until I got my black belt in 5th grade, I was a part of multiple plays, sports, and other school clubs. I was always the outcast though, and I struggled to be okay with that, but eventually, I learned to embrace it.

I’ve always been outgoing, and I love to be a leader. I was in JROTC all four years of high school, and I loved it! I have never had just one interest I’ve always been open-minded to trying new things.
