Meet Brittany Addison-Prescott of AddisonPrescott

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Addison-Prescott.

Brittany, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I didn’t choose the spiritual life, the spiritual life chose me. I graciously accepted my walkthrough and to my Higher Self when I returned to Dallas in 2012 thinking I would be here for two weeks for the Christmas holiday break. What started as a seemingly innocent invitation to practice yoga over Velvet Tacos with my first yoga mentor, Jenny Hunter Parum, has turned into the most mind-blowing graciously humbling process of owning and reclaiming my TRUE POWER.

I started yoga and meditation in December 2012 to help me fill the minutes and hours between outpatient rehab from addiction and eating disorders. In those moments on the yoga mat, I started to feel whole and complete as well as hear a comforting voice I had heard on and off throughout my life.  I never knew what “IT” was and why I was willing to follow through on this “sobriety thing.”

The journey on and off the mat has allowed me to be open and vulnerable with myself and the choices I made out of fear or sheer Divine inspiration. My healing has not been linear but has allowed me the opportunity to creatively channel into yoga as energy medicine and teach dynamically fun and challenging yoga classes. I have the daily blessing to  hold space for my students to heal through tarot and oracle readings, my TAROT|FLOW and CHECK YO CHAKRAS BOO workshops, as well as share  my recovery discovery on my Instagram blog,”#pleaseadvise,”

I have always been involved with performance and creative arts which allowed me to travel all over Europe in middle school and high school, which allowed me to graduate from Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts with a Dance Concentration.

My international travels encouraged my curiosity in people, culture, art, and fashion. In high school, I was inspired by a prophetic dream of presenting my artwork at a college in the mountains to pursue Photography and Print Making, though I never I had never drawn a picture nor held a professional camera in my life.
I graduated from Hollins University, a beautiful Women’s Liberal Arts university in Virginia’ s Blue Ridge Mountains, in 2007. I created an interdisciplinary degree called Cultural Aesthetics – Women’s Studies, Sociology with a focus on gender, race, and class in the media, and Studio Art with a concentration in Photography and Printmaking.
This allowed me to travel, gather stories, and produce art, photography, and experience life through the lens of interconnection and society understandings of misunderstandings. I used my degree to work in retail visual merchandising, buying, and high fashion advertising until September 2015.
What I know today after connecting the dots of my life, is that I have a keen and curious eye about the beauty of people’s stories and have aided so many people to live their best life through being their best self. My work has shown me the Power of Choice creates a wonderfully powerful web of interconnection back home to Self. Our Divine truth that All is One.
Through consistent yoga, meditation, and talk therapy with infrequent visits to reiki healers I learned to embrace and manage my energy so that I can share and serve my healing techniques with the Dallas Yoga and Spiritual Community. I opened AddisonPrescott, yoga, meditation. Spiritual guiding in the Summer 2017.  as safe haven and resource to empower empaths through witnessing their stories and offering experience, strength, hope through mindful movement, breathwork, healing crystals, tarot reading, yoga as energy medicine, and create tools to enhance trust in their intuition.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road to healing is not linear; thus the road to owning and successfully operate a private yoga and spiritual wellness practice as a Black woman in Dallas, has not been a linear experience. What I have learned throughout my experience is that discipline to earning income is not the path that encourages me to move forward.

The sheer inspiration to continue to heal myself and be an open conduit to Spirit so that I may be of maximum service to my community is my true calling and passion. The energetic financial success flows in when I take my eyes off the material and focus on strengthening my spiritual life. It is all energy, and I am responsible for how I give and receive energy.

When I learned the art of “observe more. absorb less,” the more in tune, self-aware, and self-forgiving I have become. My path has become focused on the people and organizations who strive to live a “HIGH VIBE HUSTLE,” lifestyle. The art of efficiently maximizing energy to reach more people by being openly authentic without setting ourselves aside to please others who choose not to understand Self or who are not ready to accept themselves fully. I have learned to be myself through the filter of seeing myself through Spiritual grace and understanding. The “HIGH VIBE HUSTLE ” life has allowed me to have unwavering faith in my natural talents, gifts, and abilities in order to release my self-limiting beliefs of fear of success.

I can only accept, believe, know, and feel myself to the level I know and trust myself and Spirit. Others can only understand me to the level they understand themselves.  I choose to present myself humbly and wisely to meet people where they are with graceful acceptance. I affirm to myself daily, “I see myself clearly. Brittany, I love you, and I will treat you better today than I did yesterday. ”

This mantra has opened not only my eyes to owning and embracing my high energy, but it has also invited, inspired those around me to remove the fail of fearful disillusionment and live simply. Though I have had few discouraging comments being labeled intimidating because of my powerful voice, bold muscular build, and have been labeled a “crazy” by few.

Today, I accept that being labeled intimidating is someone’s excuse to remain small. Fear is a very powerful drug that disguises itself is so many cloaks of armor, especially for me through high anxiety and mild depression. I have used these pieces of feedback to bring peace to my pieces.

Deep down inside, my truest fear is I am afraid of my beauty and power, so I set the powerful intention to meet, beat, exceed myself greatest fear of myself to live a life beyond my wildest dreams.

Please tell us about AddisonPrescott.
AddisonPrescott yoga.meditation. spiritual guiding is a private healing practice to empower empaths and those open to spiritual wellness. What started as just pure private yoga studio to help my students with improving on their yoga postures and guided meditations evolved into a safe haven for those open to accepting and owning the POWER OF CHOICE through their stories. I learned our bodies are magnificent vessels that contain powerful stories and trapped energy that must be expressed in order to move forward and live a SOULFUL higher vibing life.
Tarot|Flow and Check Yo Chakras Boo workshops were created during a reading I gave friend and studio owner, Rachel Fox of “The Refuge Meditation” to use tarot, Oracle, and numerology readings in conjunction with yoga postures, essential oils, and healing crystals to facilitate an open environment for healing exploration.

In my public yoga classes, I am known as well as widely stand out for megawatt smile, positive perspective, quick wit, challenging internal and external strength training yoga classes, and smile-inducing music. I am sincerely known for an innovative approach to guiding my students to dig deep and practice patient perseverance.

I graciously use empathic intuition and yogic intelligence to connect with my student’s energy for a mind, body, and spiritual union. My Meditation. Music. Movement. Message Methodology encourages students to journey to their inner self and fully embrace life’s challenges.

4 “M” Methodology:
Meditation- introduces breathing and visualization techniques to relax the mind and invigorate the body to prepare for physical movement.

Music- classes are guided in silence with the breath as the rhythm OR with vibration boosting playlists to help the student meet, greet, and accept their Authentic Self

Movement- A Vinyasa sequence, to move in a special way, or a RESTORATIVE yoga sequence is created for the student to align and balance chakras.

Message- Throughout the yoga practice I inspire and guide my students through the asana while offering spiritual guidance. Students often receive or “download” answers in Savasana to some of their deepest questions.

I am most proud of watching others rise and shine their bright light through the practice of Being.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite childhood memories are of dancing and listening to music on the way to garage sales with my mama on Saturday afternoons. THAT was our Saturday tradition- listen to her favorite Al Green, Diana Ross, Luther Vandross, Cher albums clean the apartment and go garage sale shopping in the afternoons. We called it, “finding DIAMONDS ON THE RACKS.” I loved rummaging through other people’s unwanted belongings and learning their history through what they surrender at price.

My daddy taught me how to do anything and everything from my heart’s center. “Brittany, if your heart is not in it, then, it is not worth it. He also had a large role to play in my love of music and incense as well-fed my hunger for travel.

MY BEST memories are of my childhood travels every Spring and Summer to Europe. I remember closing my eyes, spinning the globe, and dripping orange Elmer’s glue manifesting a trip to each country. I successfully traveled to each country the glue landed on except for Australia!
