Meet Brittany Bechtold

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Bechtold.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Brittany. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
The easiest way to explain how this born & raised Chicago suburbs girl ended up in Texas is to share some hard lessons I learned about myself over the years. I like to think everything happens for a reason, but sometimes I wonder if I had known what I do now, would I have gotten to this point in my life sooner and with less debt. I am a personal trainer & wellness director in Fort Worth, with a communication sciences & disorders degree, SLPA license and a whole lot of food intolerances. You might wonder why I share that with my professions but its because it is partially how I got to where I am.

I was in the undergraduate program to eventually go on to graduate school to become a Speech and Language Pathologist. I had been working with people with disabilities since middle school and truly had a passion to continue with it my entire life. However, I didn’t get into graduate school. This was probably one of the most devastating things for me at the time and if I’m honest, I am still disappointed in myself for this. Not because I still want to get my graduate degree, I don’t. But because I put so much into this one path and everyone made it seem like it was going to happen and it didn’t. So then I was at a complete loss of what do I do with my life now?

Switching gears, I ended up getting my personal trainer certification after going through my own health journey. I was stressed out constantly after college, broke up with someone and gained weight over time. I went through a lot of emotions feeling like I failed to pick a good career path in college. Due to it, I found a lot of communities and people along the way, most who are still involved in my life and career now.

Has it been a smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road and I don’t know if it is entirely smooth yet. I went through health struggles in high school and college. I had surgery, was constantly sick before being diagnosed with food intolerances and struggled for years to feel good again. When I was going through all these things, I didn’t have someone to turn to, so I did some research to seek help. Doing so, I found Tone It Up. The TIU community made a huge impact on my life at the time, helped me out of a rut and continues to be a part of my life and journey today. Along with health struggles, I have struggled with the question “what are you going to do with your life?” Funny that even though I have a job, I get asked this question a lot and I do not seem to have a final answer. I have things that make me genuinely happy and grateful, but there are struggles often with doing only what we love. So as much as my road is not smooth right now, it’s an endless one I am continuing to travel on to see how to surpass the struggles that appear along the way.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with your work – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
So individually, I am my business. I am a NASM certified personal trainer. I also have a certification as an inclusive fitness trainer, CIFT, where I have studied/trained to work with people with disabilities. This certification is extremely special to me because it was my way of combining two separate dreams into one. It is still a work in progress but it is truly a passion of mine. As a trainer, I am known for loving burpees, HIIT workouts and finding balance. I think I bring a relatable approach preaching balance, life and share my real struggles I continue to face just as my potential clients might be facing.

I also am a personal trainer at a business called PT Fitness, located in Fort Worth. I found this awesome gym before moving to Texas. At PT Fitness, we are all about developing positive lives. Here we are about embracing your Heart, developing your Focus and celebrating your Power. We offer an open gym, personal training and classes at our facility. The classes are circuit-style workouts geared toward strength and conditioning, built on a specialized four-week program.

We work strongly as a team to bring the best to our clients. Whether you have a class membership, gym membership or a personal training package, you are family to us and we take care of family. I think the way all our trainers work together as a team to support one another sets us apart from everyone. Instead of competing, we help provide the best overall wellness to every single client we encounter. Some people might not agree but I also think we have fun classes. Yes, I used the word fun in relation to fitness classes. Now fun doesn’t mean easy, but we bring things to the floor you don’t get to see everywhere. We also are built on the foundations of exercise. At PT Fitness, we are about real food, true workouts, and we are a gimmick-free gym with a wide variety of clients.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Being born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago gives you some amazing city experiences without being in the middle of it. And I may be biased but it also has the best food. Living in Fort Worth the last two and a half years has been a great experience though. I love the culture here, people are often much nicer ha and I have certainly found some awesome food joints I continually go back to. Growing up somewhere and then all the sudden picking up your life to move to another city is not easy. But its been a fun experience to take in a whole new place. I love feeling like I am in a city, where I can find any store/restaurant but also having the ability to escape the city and noise so easily. As a foodie at heart, I love having a Sprouts, Unrefined bakery and HG SPLY CO in a short driving distance. I haven’t come up with anything specific as a least favorite so I’d have to get back to you on it.
