Meet Brittany Bullock of The Brittany B

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Bullock.

Brittany, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’ve always been the type to plan and organize. It’s been second nature. All the trips, group outings, etc I found myself always the person planning things. Mix that with my love of travel and will to help other people it just made sense for me to turn it into a business. I was always getting questions of how to plan, what to do, ideas of where to go, so my business planned itself.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I’ve been in business consulting for seven years but there was a lot I didn’t know about business. How to start one, the difference in filings, With having clients and a full time job it can be strenuous trying to balance everything. It was so important for me to have an outstanding support system.

Please tell us about The Brittany B.
I have two legs to my business, but both are around planning and organizing. On the travel side, I assist individuals and groups with custom itineraries for their vacations. I do the work no one wants to: find cool things to do and type it up. I go the extra mile to ensure that my itineraries reflect the person or group’s personality based on budget, the type of trip, etc. Every itinerary is customized down to layout. One unique thing about this business is that with every trip planned I donate a portion to Too Fly Fundraiser which provides passports and travel resources for underprivileged youth. That is important to me get more children out that are disadvantaged to be able to see the world. I didn’t own a passport until I was 22. How much of the world would I have been able to see at a younger age if I had the right tools and resources. I am fortunate now that I can afford to travel and to gain tons of experiences and knowledge. I want to pay those blessings back.

The other half of my business which is small is Event consultation and evaluation. I go to at least one event a week, sometimes as many as four in a week. I don’t think post event surveys are as impactful of having someone there in real time to give you live feedback, speak on the experience as an attendee, and give real information from what your event was like from start to finish. One of the areas I studied in college was PR/Marketing so I applied my experience attending and planning events mixed with knowledge of SWOT Analysis to build comprehensive reports for brands having various events.

Majority of my clients come from referrals. That means a lot to me because it says that people appreciate the quality of work that I do and are willing to refer me, and two, people trust me.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I would have started sooner. I’m doing what I’ve been doing for years, just now charging for it.
