Meet Brittany Delgado of Glory Nails in Dallas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Delgado.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Brittany. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My story is similar to many, I wanted better for not only myself but my family. From the beginning straight out of High school, I went off to college – Texas A&M University-Commerce. I found myself studying social work. Fast forward a bit and now I’m in my Junior Year second semester when I found out I was pregnant. 20 years old at the time and I found myself in a position I had not planned for. I decided to move home and find a job. This did not settle well with me, knowing I’d let down my parents and myself. This was a big deal for me. Years passed and although I found a stable job and had promotion after promotion I was not satisfied, I wanted more.

I spent months discovering my passion. I want to add here if you have not found your passion or your purpose do not be discouraged it takes many a lifetime to do so. Personally, I spent long nights mediating and finding myself first before I could find what would truly make me happy. At this point, I’m two babies in and have found that I’m really interested in doing nails. I researched night and day, took many tours of different schools until I found the right one for me. Also, I had picked up a second job working for the US Post office.

I had to really and truly be ready for this next phase before taking this step, as it was imperative for me not to fail at this. I found myself in the next orientation class and for the next six months I completed 600 hours in a manicure program and ultimately received my Manicure license with the state of Texas.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I strongly believe that being challenged in Life is inevitable being defeated is optional. –Roger Crawford

Yes, there were many bumps in my road, and I had to check myself quite often when those little thoughts ran across my head saying it would be easier to give up. I was done taking the easier route. Shortcuts were no longer getting me to where I wanted to be anymore. Being 24 with two kids, three and under, working two jobs, managing a healthy relationship, and still trying to maintain my peace? oh yes! I had every reason to stop fighting. But that wasn’t an option for me anymore. The moral of this is that although you may have a million and one things going on, you have to keep faith that you’re in this season for a reason. You WILL make it out and you will be 100 times better than when you went in. I no longer work for the postal Service I traded that in to make use of my license where I am located in a shop doing what I love. It all paid off!

We’d love to hear more about your business.
My Business Name is Glory Nails. I choose this name after my late granny Gloria Carter. Who passed away before she could see me follow my dream, this woman was such an inspiration to me that I dedicated my business to her. I am located at Exotic Unique Nail Salon in the greater South West Dallas area. I love to recreate looks on my client’s nails and put my own twist and turn for them. I plan to explore my creative abilities more and showcase my ideas on social platforms to gain more clients.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Some of my proudest moments have come from me getting recognized by many of people I don’t know via social networks and my work getting shared it just proves although I am in the beginning stages of my career I’m growing in this stage of my life and there is more to come for me.
