Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Hardin.
Brittany, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
First off I wanna say we wouldn’t be where we are today without God. My husband and I both come from very different backgrounds as far as what we consider a home atmosphere, but ultimately we met one another in 2013, married in 2014 and transferred our business to a joint wedding photography industry that same year.
Growing up in a home where my home-life was strained caused me to reach out to things that take me out of that situation and Photography was that for me. I would reach for my camera and photograph anything and everything; Peoples expressions when they least expect it where always my favorite. Getting to tell a story with one single picture is what I have always strived to accomplish.
I ended up getting my Degree in Photographic Technology “portrait focused” from Austin Texas in 2010 and then put my business on hold for a few years to help my family with some personal issues. This isn’t to say I didn’t grab my camera and still shoot as often as possible, I ended up moving to Abilene Texas and here officially opened my business as a Lifestyle Photographer.
Mostly shooting families, events and eventually, most of my time became devoted to my brides as I branched into the wedding industry again since the undertaking of my degree. I had the blessed opportunity to travel to Zambia, Africa in 2012 and it was here God revealed the most amazing people, worship and pictures for me. I fell in love with photography all over again while there for three months.
I married just a year later, and my husband Garrison and I officially moved to Weatherford in 2014 where we moved our business. We started the year by retraining ourselves in the ends and outs of weddings and renewed our basics then started fresh in what we now call our hometown. We have been here four years, and the progress we have done is just a blessing. We have met some AMAZING brides, venues, vendors, and families these last few years.
We’ve been blessed to be called one of Shutterfly’s top Wedding Photographers 2018 as well as be featured in some amazing publications. All in all, we are beyond blessed to call this our job because it’s our passion and we have God above to thank for it all.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Life is definitely not always easy, and as humans, we do make mistakes. I would say the hardest things we have endured since the very beginning where the divorce of my parents right as I graduated.
Moving multiple times a-mist the waiting for God to lead me to the right place to call home and the tragic death of my father in law took a huge hit to the family and set us back for a few months as we tried to grasp the realness of the situation.
Overall we have been truly blessed to have have been through worse, and I pray we never have too.
We’d love to hear more about what you do.
So we are a Photography Business specializing in Weddings. We focus on Natural emotion and pay close attention to details. We pride ourselves in bright colors and a photojournalistic style for our brides. We hope to convey a story with pictures just as a videographer would do with actual footage.
We are blessed to say we try to make our brides feel like family and make sure they feel validated in their needs. We have always laid down the camera to lend a helping hand, offer the bride and groom a car ride to and from, and be an emotional support when it’s just you and them in the room alone. Our brides are family and as thus we want to give the best of ourselves as we can to them,
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success to me is relevant. I might not have a million followers on Twitter or Instagram. I might not be seasoned as some photographers, and that is just fine by me. God created us to have all unique talents and strengths, So to my success is what you set it at.
This year, we wanted to double in our weddings and retain our 5-star ratings as well as push ourselves on what we could produce. We also had a goal of shooting at a well-known venue in Weatherford and God graced us with all of this and more.
