Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Newton.
Hi Brittany, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I was an elementary teacher for eight years and I loved it. A few years ago, when Covid began to take effect, it became difficult to enjoy what I was doing as an educator. I was struggling with the why behind what I was doing. I began to dream about pursuing something new. At the time my brother Aaron Shockey was just starting out as a real estate agent and it was inspiring to see the joy that he had found in it. My husband and I would talk and dream about me pursuing a career in real estate but we didn’t think that it was the time to make such a bold move. I did my best to enjoy educating my students for two more years but after much time, prayer, and planning I decided it was time to take a leap of faith and go to real estate school in 2021. For eight weeks I continued teaching and began attending night classes each night. It was rough, but I pushed through it with the support of my family and finished successfully. During that time, I had been talking with my brother about joining his team at Rogers Healy and Associates. He spoke so highly of the positive environment and excellent leadership. With his recommendation, Rogers Healy welcomed me to his team with open arms. Today my life is full of excitement as I help families every day find a home perfect for them. I love It! It’s my passion to wake up, go out, and make someone’s dream come true! It’s all thanks to my faith, my family, and the incredible team at Rogers Healy and Associates.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road has not been smooth but it has turned out better than I ever expected. The biggest challenges I faced along the way were the doubts and fears within myself. I have always been the type of person who plays it safe. With this decision, I knew I had to overcome my fears and do something I have never done before. Throughout this process, I have had many times of overwhelming worry. What if I fail? What if I am not good at it? What if I disappoint my family? Those thoughts raced through my mind every day. Now I am so glad that I faced my fears and accepted the challenge because the journey has been rewarding and fulfilling for me and my family!
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a real estate agent with Rogers Healy and Associates. I help my amazing clients buy, sell, or lease properties in the Dallas, Fort Worth area. I specialize in client care! My favorite part of what I do is getting to know my clients, their families, their needs, and all of their desires in their next home. Making their dreams come true and making the process as joyful as possible is something I take a lot of pride in. What sets me apart is the high quality and thoughtful care all my clients receive from the first call to the day they get their keys, and for years to come. My clients are my family and I truly care for their happiness!
What was your favorite childhood memory?
As a child, I grew up in Haltom City, Tx with a loving family. A mother and father who sacrificed so much, and two twin brothers who I fought with as much as I loved. We had many struggles through the years but we were a very close family and our faith and sports played a major role in my life. I participated in multiple sports from basketball and volleyball, to track and cross country. These sports helped me build myself discipline, positive work ethic, persistence, and passion to push through any situation. My favorite memory as a child was my family cheering for me from the sidelines all those years. Their encouragement to push forward year after year has followed me to adulthood. They never missed a game. Even if I wasn’t on the court or on the field that week, there they were cheering me on. Because of that, I want to push myself to work harder, be better, and support my clients through the ups and downs no matter what.
