Meet Brittany Telfair

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Telfair.

Brittany Telfair

Hi Brittany, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I was born and raised in Louisiana and now residing in Dallas, Texas. Hailing from a state where food and drinks are a way of life, I began my journey as a content creator during the pandemic, focusing on food and mainly Texas wines. My goal is to infuse diversity into the wine industry and to shine a spotlight on the rich offerings of Texas.

With experience at a Texas winery, I actively participated in harvesting volunteering, and I have my WSET level 1 certification currently working towards WSET level 2. Being a catalyst for change in the culinary and wine realms, I was able to forge new connections by celebrating a variety of cuisines and cocktails.

Through my efforts, I have fostered a community of travelers, food and wine enthusiasts.

My journey allows me to partake in engaging conversations and to bridge the gap between the tangible and virtual worlds, all while having a blast. Creating a free-from-judgment zone allows me to embrace a down-to-earth approach when it comes to wine spaces where women of color are not often seen. This authenticity resonates with my followers, making me a more relatable figure in the wine field. I’m just a regular individual with a passion for indulgence and, of course, wine!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
In many cases, the wine community has been quite welcoming, but it does pose some challenges. It can be disconcerting to enter spaces where you don’t see anyone who looks like you, and sometimes, peers react surprisingly when you display your wine knowledge, especially based on the color of your skin.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
What I’m particularly proud of is being able to serve as a voice, advocating for and introducing people to the incredible local wine businesses in our community. It’s immensely fulfilling to shine a spotlight on their offerings and contribute to their success.

I’m deeply passionate about my role in the wine industry. I love crafting content that showcases the excellence of Texas wines for local businesses. As the go-to girly on Texas wines, cocktails, and culinary delights, I take immense pride in creating a comfortable space for individuals who share my background, introducing them to the richness of this world.

My authenticity and genuine connections define my approach in every setting. I truly believe I’m fulfilling a purpose in this position, and I cherish every moment of it.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up.
Growing up in Louisiana, one of my fondest childhood memories involves picking blackberries with my family. Back then, I didn’t particularly enjoy it, and I didn’t fully grasp the significance of what we were harvesting. However, looking back now, I realize the value of those experiences. Today, when I harvest grapes in my work, it instantly transports me back to those cherished moments from my childhood. It’s a reminder of the fruits of our labor and makes me appreciate them even more.
