Today we’d like to introduce you to Brody Worth.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Brody. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I grew up in a small town. As a kid, I always had a deep love for music starting when my brother introduced me to bands like Dance Gavin Dance and The Devil Wears Prada. Ever since that day, my love for music grew and grew. During my junior year of high school, I decided to build a computer to play video games with my friends and it dawned on me that I could use this computer to make music if I had the right software. Once I downloaded FL Studio, I never looked back. Since that day, five years ago, I have made music almost every day of my life. I have come so far from a small-town kid that loved music to living in Dallas, performing my music, and going to school at Cedar Valley College in Lancaster for Recording Technology. In late 2017, I dropped one of my first vocal tracks titled “CANUKEEPUP?” featuring Heavenaboveall. That track threw me into the Dallas music scene, amassing over 4,000 plays locally in the first month. It was a funny feeling considering my past. I think that’s when I truly realized that maybe I DID have some talent in me somewhere. Today, I focus mostly on making instrumentals and mixing other artists’ music. I found that I enjoy using my creative direction the most. I think the focus of my story is a small-town kid having big city dreams. I always want to reach for the intangible and create something that makes the listener feel something when they hear it.
Has it been a smooth road?
I would say for the most part it has been smooth. My family and friends have been very supportive of me up to this point. There are struggles though, with trying to balance school, a job, rent, and a good creative headspace. It can be overwhelming at times but I am thankful to have the support system that I have.
What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc. What are you most proud of? What sets you apart from others?
I am an artist/audio engineer/producer/composer. I write, mix, and creative direct music. I am a one-stop-shop for music. I am most proud of the fact that I can make professional-sounding music from my apartment, although I would love to have a real studio someday. I think one thing that sets me apart from others is my background in music. Loving and understanding all different genres of music allows me to take elements from different genres and combine them to make something quite interesting. It also allows me to understand mixing music a lot more because certain genres are mixed differently, which is what really creates the mood in a song. You can hear a jazz or rock song, but if they aren’t mixed correctly, they won’t sound like a jazz or rock song, if that makes sense.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love Dallas because it is a melting pot of all different kinds of people. There are so many different scenes and places inside one big city and it makes it beautiful. If there was one thing I’d change about Dallas, it’d be the support system amongst local artists. It seems that some people don’t have the mindset of putting the whole city on the map as much as they want to make it themselves. By supporting each other more, we can make Dallas an art powerhouse.
