Today we’d like to introduce you to Bruce Mcgraw.
Bruce, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started out for the love of art and the outdoors growing up as a kid. As time passed, I started out taking pictures in the deer stand passing time enjoying the smell of the outdoors and wildlife. This is where friends and family started realizing I had an eye to capture amazing images. They all started asking me to offer more like family pictures and etc. Honestly, I was self-taught and didn’t feel comfortable but I dove in and tried a few sessions for close friends. I made a watermark that I felt represented me and what I love so I came up with the antlers for the wildlife photography and outdoors I loved mixed with a star for Texas thrown in with a river below our name. From that point on I started getting noticed and thought about changing our watermark as I was being pushed more towards family portraits rather then outdoor wildlife photography. That was a mistake because people loved the watermark for being different and stated it must stay and it represented me!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Struggles absolutely there’s been struggles. Been many times I’ve wanted to throw in the towel because I am my worst critic. But with that being said and the help of close family and friends, it has helped push me to higher standards.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with McGraw Images – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
Well, we are a local DFW photographer who specializes in natural light photography. We offer everything under the moon from family and senior sessions. To glam and boudoir even. What sets us apart, hmmm I’d have to say the fact we try to be friends first with clients we know photography isn’t the funniest and most comfortable thing for some. So we try to make the best and joke around and compliment clients get to know them one on one and hopefully make their session enjoyable and a time to remember and to share their experiences with others.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Our plans are to continue to grow yet not forget where we started from. And at the end of the day try having fun and grow more and better ourselves. But not outgrow our britches per say and be the best friend and photographer our clients deserve.
